I'm an electrical engineer major and I seem so out of place. They're good people at heart but a good bit are weird and you can instantly tell from their demeanor that they don't socialize much if any. Also they are very few girls in my major. Their is ONE cute one and the other 5 or not attractive. I tend to find pre med, accounting, and business major to be the coolest people. Really it's just the engineer and computer science majors that are weird.
Why is this?

Basically it's because the difficult stuff is only done by the people with poor social skills and usually less good looking. The good looking people can't be bothered with this **** when they could having sex with equally good looking people. Reason why you barely see people that look like they lift on hard enginering careers and computer science. That **** is hard and requires a lot of shut-in time. Also reason you'll barely ever see a hot girl on these places. Im doing computers stuff (C/C++ and more) and there was this hot blonde girl that lasted one day in class. Thats it, one day, and she dissapeared. The guys seem like good people but i am actually the one that looks antisocial there. They talk about memes in real life. They say stuff like "fap", "FUU" and all that ****. It's stoping being funny thanks to them. Also there are those mac-***s and twitter-***s that are just plaing annoying. Im reconsidering studying this ****, it's pretty ****ing boring aswell. It's probably interesting but just the whole experience of going to class is so ****ing boring. I can't pay attention for 7 hours a day when half of the **** is really boring (databases class, can't stand that ****. The moral of the story is basically: we teach you how to program a database of anything, like a high class hotel, so rich people buy the tickets and you get paid **** for doing the hard work). **** it. Also no girls. No girls man.

Man most of the dudes I have classes with are fat as fuk, greasy, and lame. Like I said before. They're good people but they are just too off the social norm. Instead of going to parties they stay in their dorms reading or playing xbox. Come out and have some fun geez, and talk to girl on a romantic level for once.

lol @ accounting. I'm an accountant and I do not fit in with the other accountants. They are like an alien species to me. All I hear is golf this, horse racing that. Bad jokes that aren't even funny all day long. Some of their bitch wives call up and abuse them over the phone and make them buy **** on their lunch breaks.
Most of the cool kids end up dropping out after 6 to 12 months because they can't pass the first year.

you'll probably find that intelligent people are cerebral, aloof, caught up in their own minds, etc.
it's sorta hard to be smart and NOT be like that. so i think it's really a matter of degree. a person might be very outgoing and social, but still has to withdraw to study, think about things, and whatnot.
personality types and learning styles are probably good indicators of intelligence and professional preference. but people can make themselves exceptions with hardwork!

I'm on the last year of my BSEE right now, and thankfully we don't have ANY weirdos at all. Just normal, social and funny people...hell, most of them are in a serious relationship.
HOWEVER, some of the overlapping classes we took had the most sorry weirdos I've ever seen...mainly the guys from Comp. Science and Software Engineering. Like taken out of that Socially Awkward Penguin thread.
I think the most geeky **** we talk about in my class must be the latest in cell-phones.
