My left arm is extremely weaker than my right and it holds me back when I'm lifting. When using the dumbbells, I do uneven amounts. My friend says its a bad thing cus it will only make the difference in strength between my arms even greater. Does it really matter? Would it be better for me to lower the weights and feel nothing in my right arm just to make my left arm catch up?

Thats the point...
Why would you want to train one arm and leave the other to atrophy?
Strength should be even from left to right. Since it seems like you're pretty new to this, it really shouldn't take long for the other arm to catch up.On the road to 1250
Train consistently, move iron with purpose, eat well, sleep well and achieve.
