For the last 6 weeks or so I've experienced some inner elbow pain. It's a bit difficult to explain exactly what is happening but I'll do my best. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Basically, it's a pretty dull pain on the inside of my elbow. When I lift it can get fairly painful but it's more of a soreness than a sharp pain. It's been hard for me to figure out exactly what lifts are laying the hurt on it but incline bench, flat bench and triceps exercises seem to be the worst.
If I aggravate it at the gym it will be sore feeling for a few hours but won't be painful where I would classify it as uncomfortable. Sometimes for a day or two I can feel some soreness. Every here and there I'll get some random shooting pains but rarely.
I tried taking 10 days off completely a few weeks back. Didn't seem to help.
That's all I've got for now. Ask me more questions if you think it will help and I'll answer them the best I can.
I haven't been to a doctor for an injury before. What kind of doctor should I see if I end up needing to set up an appointment?

I've had tendonitis inner and outer, sounds like it could be the case. Problem is the only thing that worked to stop it is stopping the thing that started it. I got it from playing golf then again a few years later from lifting. Both times it took a few months to subside but did go away.... for now.

Sounds similar to an elbow pain that I had recently, though the pain in my elbow was aggravated from doing pull-ups. I consulted The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook and learned that trigger points in the triceps can refer pain to the elbow. Massaging the tricep near the medial side of the elbow revealed a knot that was quite painful when I massaged it. As I worked the knot (trigger point) out of that part the the muscle, the pain in the elbow subsided. I've continued to massage that area several times each day - it has helped a lot, though there is still some residual pain in the elbow. (Could be tendonitis or some other trigger point I haven't found yet.)
If you want see a doctor, you'll probably have to start with your family doctor (general practitioner) and get a referral to see a specialist.Last edited by KBKB; 01-25-2012 at 05:38 PM. Reason: revise phrasing which didn't make sense
