I'll probably get negged for these comments. Bodybuilding isn't a sport it's an exhibition as is a beauty pageant or ballet. Bowlers and golfers have more talent in their hands than any bodybuilder to walk the earth in their whole body.

I know the post is not on talent or sport but work.

So I list them this way.

MMA - Boxing about the same.
Wrestling - just a notch down but not by much.
    Cycling
    Football
    Soccer
    Runners
    Swimmers
Bodybuilding/strongest man comp. Somewhere around here.

The basis is that most bodybuilders could not perform the training necessary in the other sports but athletes in those other sports have the physical talent, ability or genes
to perform similar type training and do but on a different level. A 300 lbs NFL offensive lineman could out workout any bodybuilder any day in a combo of weight training
and cardio, period. Not even close.

Cycling ahead of football and soccer?

This is either a wind up or you can't ride a bicycle.

The training is not the hard part. Dealing with extreme mental side effects from the diet and drugs, ON TOP of work, family, traininig, cooking, posing, and cardio, is what takes mental strength. Which I would argue is definitely a talent.

    tal·ent
    [tal-uh nt] Show IPA

    noun
    1.
a special natural ability or aptitude: a talent for drawing.

    2.
a capacity for achievement or success; ability: young men of talent.

Some people just cant do anything they commit to. Let me say MOST. They have no self control or will. Its not an argument to say "on paper bodybuilding is easy so anyone can do it". You know that 50% of people even have trouble just not being obese....

So because a soccer player has enough talent and cardiovascular ability to play a sport thats fun for him, that means that he could handle dieting down for a contest? You seriously have no idea what it takes.

I know guys that are obsessed with bodybuilding. They would love to be bodybuilders. Some have competed, some not. Even these guys will never make it, it takes so much more than lift and eat. If looking like Ronnie or Jay was easy, there would be more than 5 people in all of existance to have matched those levels of development. How many people on this forum look even close to turning pro? They all try and be the best they can be, it just doesnt happen like that. Protein shake + lift + test injection, does not equal great physique, let alone epic physique...

Ill finish off my arguement with this.

Have you ever went for a run? You get motivated to lean down for summer and you feel awesome, you go and you jog for half an hour and your excited at the time so you think you will keep it up. Have you ever been in a really big hole in your life? Maybe death in the family or a bad break up occurred. You are depressed, nothing matters, you have no energy, you have anxiety and negative thoughts, you just want to sleep OR can not sleep, you do do not want to deal with anyone, especially at work. Just the most basic tasks feel like you are carrying a boulder. You get up and have to force yourself just to brush your teeth or make a coffee.

Is brushing your teeth harder than running for a half hour? No, on paper, running for half an hour is 100's of times a greater out put (energy wise) than brushing your teeth. My point here is that the things bodybuilders do are not the hardest on paper. It is the circumstances of pre contest protocols that make the tasks that bodybuilders do WAY harder to execute AND maintain for long periods of time. You cant just say, oh they lift weights and so does a soccer player. Thats a ****ing insult to any pro, especially the elite ones who have probably done and felt things you couldnt handle for 5 days. So stop trying to give an opinion if you have no idea what you are talking about. Unless you have competed, or you are at a high level in a given sport, then you cant really make a valid point.

    I'll just point this out.

Going to failure is the concept of complete mental and physical exhaustion.
We train to failure and we basically put our body through so much efforts with the nutrition and training...it takes a lot of mental stability and motivation to remain on track.
You know that feeling when you're squatting and you're just begging mercy to get up, you're thinking about all the things you're going to achieve just to get up one more time, you scream, sweat, and then lay on the floor..people would easily give up or not even try because they FEAR mental exhaustion.
I won't even talk about contest prep, you already know how hard it is.

Now you go on your fkn bike and let me see how exhausted you are, not just out of breath, I want to see you asking yourself for help, begging your quads and calves to hold, I want to see you completely let loose where your quads gave up and you fall from your bike, on the floor, exhausted, not being able to get up, then you tell me how hard it is.
Water polo? Until you drown and the lifeguard comes to save you.
MMA and Boxing? Until you fall unconscious on the floor.
Soccer football? Until you lose balance and just fall face down of the floor.

ROMS. Let me simplify it for you.

Hard task easy when you feel good.

Bodybuilders take and do **** that make feel baaaaaad.

Moderate task extremely hard when you feel bad.

All other athletes do things make feel good before compete.

The difficulty of the task is relative to the ****ing mental circumstances of the individual, bodybuilders HAVE to take things that make them feel like zombies. You ****ing misck ****. Dont have an intelligent ****ing response then go to the misc and post pics and lol whats and O rlys.

Gymnastics, cycling, lond distance running, swimming. These are some if the things that look like torture to do.

For all those saying all sports are hard i can tell you now being a proffessional footballer is probably one of the easiest jobs ever.

This is either a wind up or you can't ride a bicycle.
Yea I know, but have you seen what those guys go through on the tour? They pretty much have wrinkles on their faces from how much grimacing they do. The endurance these guys have is beyond human. Even for the juicers.

IMO if you wanted to say merely mental discipline, BB goes higher. But everything else stands true for all other sports. Conditioning, weight, family, contracts and comparison with others for position is true at the top for all other sports.
