is V8 juice good for you?

tried searching, couldn't come up with much

I lost my license and haven't been able to go to the Gym for some time, and probably can't, I've lost a lot of muscle tone and gained a lot of BF%. I just finished putting together a home "gym" so I can get some exercise. I can't run out side right now due to the weather. So I have decided to cut a lot of calories out of my diet to lose the weight.

I will still be eating whole foods such as: raw vegetables, eggs, tuna, chicken breast, etc. I'll just be cutting out any junk food. I was looking to drink about 24 oz of V8 a day to add to my vegetable intake a little. I plan on buying a juicer soon, but using the V8 to get me by for a couple weeks.

no not really. your better off with real fruit n veg, cheaper too. I haven't looked at the ingredients, but you lose the fibre, im guessing there is added sugar too.

For a couple of weeks its fine, but your better off with just snacking an apple/banana and steam up some veg with dinner.

Oh and if your doing it for the vitamins, i would probably go a multi v before juice anyway,

So, if you drink 24 ounces, that is 3 8-ounce servings, which gives you 1260 mg sodium per day just from this drink.

Now, if you choose the low sodium version, the sodium content is significantly lower:

So, if you have 24 ounces of the low sodium stuff, it gives you 140X3 = 420 mg sodium per day.

I forgot to mention, my local store carries the low sodium version. I live in a very small town (3,000) now, so I'm pretty limited on things until I get my license back.

Now that I know the general consensus of V8, what do you guys thing about buying a juicer and having a couple glasses a day on top of normal servings of raw vegetables?

Not everyone cares about sodium intake. 3-7g sodium per day and my BP is great.

Nothing replaces the real thing. If it were V8 or no vegetables/fruits...I'd take the V8 - Low sodium of course.

I'm not actually replacing, but actually supplementing it. I just don't want to be adding unwarranted calories.

Better then consuming whole-food sources of fruit and vegetables? No.

Good source of potassium if you get the low-sodium variety. Otherwise, save it for the Bloody Marys on Sunday morning...or is that why you lost your license?
