never worked my legs up until 3 years ago. love leg day now... so much so, that i've gone ahead to alter my workouts so i'm hitting them 2x's a week.
what helped my calves a little bit was doing 100 calve raises every night. maybe i'll start doing 100 body weight squats will help up my numbers. i'm not satisfied with 24"....[ 300 Spartan Crew ]

I work out from home, so sadly I've had no squat rack thus far. No leg press either on my bench. But that's been no excuse to skip my legs.
I've squatted the hell out of whatever I can maximum shoulder press deep and with high reps. In fact it's encouraged me to really push my shoulder press which has come on wonders since taking bodybuilding seriously and paying attention to my legs. I'll do lunges with barbell and dumbbells on top etc. I do every bodyweight exercise you can think of to work on my legs. To neglect not only the largest muscle in your body your Gluteus Maximus, but the all round benefits exercises like squats can do for your entire body upper as well as lower is insane. If I had to pick only one exercise to do for the rest of my life, it would be squats, because of the great work it does for your body overall.
And in other news, I've got my squat rack arriving on Monday, with an extra 70kg worth of plates to add to the 130kg I've already got. My legs have had 4 months of warming up, so there's going to be some explosive sets a coming. Watch this space.~224 days in ~ (12/05/13)

Ran last week, last 7km I started to cramp up a bit (quads and calves) but ran through it. Crazy, should've walked it.
2 days later, still hadn't recovered but it was Monday and Monday is legs. Crazy, should've taken the day off.
Legs were tight on the day, but I decided to go high volume and I got a PR. Crazy, should've kept it light
I spend most of my time making rational decisions. But if im honest with myself, the only time Im making real progress is when Im making crazy ones."Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional"

This is from Monday and as such is no longer a PR, but I'm still pleased with it:
Work capacity is also improving. Below is a list of all work done this week that directly engages the deep squat position (not including other movements like power cleaning and overhead pressing):
Monday: Back squat/snatch/Clean+Jerk
Tuesday:Front squat/Snatch/Clean
Wednesday: Front Squat/Back Squat
Thursday: Back Squat/Hang Snatch
Friday: Back Squat/Snatch/Clean+Jerk
Saturday: Front Squat/Hang Snatch
Sunday(today, planned): Back squat, Clean

I'm 'de-loading' this week and will be skipping legs (sorta), which makes me sad. In my defense, I did kind of crush them last week, so I don't really feel like I'm cheating, I just love leg day!.
Normally legs has fallen on Sat/Sun, but I'm re-starting the Gethin 12-week transformation program on Monday, and we do legs then (can't wait, so stoked!)
I've got 3 days of cardio ahead of me (yuck!).
Thinking stairs tomorrow, jump rope and eliptical on Sat, maybe go light and just do the bike or take the kids skating on Sunday, have some well rested wheels to destroy Monday morning.
What say you, Leg-dayers?

So today I was sick and spent most of the day in bed and got out a few times only to eat. I had planned to squat and press today, but I was sick so I didn't want to so I started making ridiculous excuses like "aw come on, you've squatted every day since October 2nd" and "you won't PR, you're sick". But at 8 pm I dragged myself out, took a shower, had some dayquil and manned the **** up and hit double PRs:
Strict overhead press 170x8
ATG Olympic back squat 340x5
I was planning to front squat afterwards. However, my throat is very sore due to my cold, and I found that I was unable to breathe properly with the bar in the racked position, so I left it for another day. I could not ask for more anyway

I never did legs say because my knees always hurt and cracked when I bent over. Got serious with my lifting two months ago and now I do leg day every 5 days. Knees don't hurt or pop anymore. Feel great after lifting even if I feel like crap while I lift. Most I've done is 230x2 with a spot after my workout. I've done 225x5 as well. Next leg day I'm going to keep the weight lower and focus on getting deep since I think I've been cheating myself.

Mixed feelings after Day 1. I mean I feel good, REAL good, about my press and hacks (New PRs for each, 700lbs x15 / 210lbs x20 respectively), but after those the wheels didn't have a lot left for curls and extensions. They didn't really drop in weight, but no gains either. I could totally tell that the ol' quads were tapped before I sat down at the extension machine, so it's not so bad.
Now I just got some more cardio later today, then on to day 2!
Lovin' this thread man, keep it rocking!

Thanks man! I'm glad the thread is doing exactly what I'd hoped!
Solid performance on day one! Good to have reasonable yet challenging goals.. Extensions are tough, especially after what you did prior.. As long as you keep coming back for more, great things will happen! #GainsDarren Conroy
