Cheating before contest
Hey everyone
Just curious -
when is the last cheat meal you allow yourself before a contest?
12 weeks out?
8 weeks out?

Ok - so for the hundreds of people out there who compete AND are "WEAK" - when is your last cheat meal?

Cheat meals are beneficial if done properly.
As far as a cheat meal, or "up meal" for precontest, that depends on how fast or slow you are tieing in.

a cheat meal does little... however a good refeed high in carbohydrates done 1-2 times per week is quite beneficial in increasing leptin and t3. I usually cut mine out about 2-3 weeks out.
keep in mind we are talking about controlled overfeeding... not cheating

Thanks!
Currently - I do 2 refeeds per week -
(mon & thurs) -
but last week I gave in to temptation and on a Saturday night I had a hot dog at a baseball game -
I skipped my carb up meal on monday to make up for it -
but I am 6 weeks out from my show and I was just wondering if anyone else has "cheated" this close to their show.

never have but you'll be ok... one hot dog won't hurt you... if you happen to do it again just try to keep your fat lower the rest of the day.
Peace

I started dieting at 13 weeks for my last show, and was way ahead of schedule at 11 weeks, so I had 2 pretty big chest meals that week. Then I went back to strict dieting, no cheating at all. But, I agree, the hot dog won't hurt, just don't let it be a frequent occurrance.

LOL.......hahahaa.....what a lil Jerk you are...HAHAH, but in a good way I mean.......
OH and cheat meals cant happen after 2 weeks out.....at 6 weeks out you still have plenty of time to make up for it just as long as it is not a consistent habit.....Some people even throw in a cheat day every week to regain energy....And im not talkin bout no refeed either, im talkin krispy kreme donuts and french fries.,...Ah yes the taste of french fries....How i do love the taste of the forbidden french fries......The guy who did this is Guy Grundy I think.....But i think thats a little overboard...Refeeds yes, ****ty food that tastes good, no way.....
Sorry im a week and a half out so im a bit delerious....

while I tend to agree somewhat with aussie I do realize that I am a bit more militant about my training and diet than most competitors (not meant to sound high and mighty... just the way I am) so much so I have been near the point of insanity during dieting. That being said if you must have a high fat cheat meal... try to keep your fat near 0 the rest of the day... and if possible try to keep the carbs low at the high fat meal (though that may not be possible)
Peace

My last cheat meal was last night. Appox 5weeks before the show. It was 6oz of sirloin steak, 2cups white rice, 1bagel with low fat cream cheese and one PB&J. Now from here on out its only chicken, oatmeal, lean steak, egg whites, protien powder, natural peanutbutter, flax oil, and fruit post workout.

Hi,
What exactly is the difference between a cheat meal and a re-feed? I start my 12 week diet in a couple of weeks

re-feed is high in carbohydrates... low in fat, low in fructose and is down in order to raise certain hormones (leptin, t3) that become drastically subdued from dieting. Cheating implies lack of willpower and a meal that has no purpose... re-feeding can be fun... but it also has a purpose.
Peace

Cheating can mean many things. To some it's one meal, to others is junking out all day. Just depends on your definition.
Cheating really depends on how your body responds. I can't afford to cheat too much before a contest, however I will have a "up day" to throw a little shock in.
I know a guy with unbelieveable genetics, makes me sick! The little $hit ate pizza 2 weeks before his contest and looked the best he ever had, and won. However, he can look at a weight and grow. Some folks just have all the luck.

what an ignorant statement...
Once a week, I utilized cheat meals - or re-feeding meals- whatever you want to call it, all the way up to about 2-3 weeks out from my show...
I am now 3 days out and tested at 3% bf with callipers...so in reality I'm probably about 4.5- 5 %..
