If you wanna be creative, you can give her an intro response that has something to do with her (where she lives, what she does for fun, something funny that happened while you two were together), for instance let's just say while you guys were together at one point she was doing a bunch of shots of tequila and got way too drunk. You could start of with "hey there tequila girl, still up to your old ways?" Since messaging doesn't have face to face interaction, you have to get as much emotion across as possible, and she'll definitely smile to herself if she sees something like that.
