20-30 Mins of Cardio After Workout

If you spend about an hour training with weights would you be overtraining or anything doing 20-30 mins of walking afterward since technically you would have spent about an hour and a half at the gym. I lift heavy and get 2-3 mins of rest between worksets so I don't bother keeping my heart rate up during weight training. But I do cardio for health reasons only.

Not at all. My strength workouts take about 45 minutes, but I do 20-30 minutes HIIT 2-3 days per week after that.

Cardio & HIIT are a major component of weight-loss. Just make sure you do it after lifting.

    Good Luck!

Cool I just didn't want to do it and cause cortisol to be released due to the time spent in the gym. I guess that doesn' apply if it's cardio as long as it isn't too hard. On my off days is when I do so much walking around campus for classes that I don't feel like doing cardio those days.

I do 20 to 30 min of cardio after every workout, I consider it a nice supplement to my weight training.

It doesn't matter if you do it before or after, as long as you don't stop while doing it, because then, the "depletion" of the "carbohidrates" you have in your body (because they're the first reserve of energy) will start from zero. You may want to do it after your workout though, you might get a little bit tired and may affect your performance.

OP the only reason you'd need to worry about overtraining cardio is if you were doing an hour+ every day of relatively high intensity and on a low cal diet that didn't compensate for the extra energy consumed from the cardio. in other words...you got nothing to worry about. it takes a lot of cardio to really hamper muscle recovery, more than what most would do for fun.

Thanks for the comments. Since I'm cutting I think it'll help anyway even though it's not for the weight loss but just to keep a strong heart and cardio system.

Any reason for doing it AFTER the work out? I prefer do cardio before, while fresh. plus, I think of it as a nice streching before the actual workout.
