lulz. I actually went into college as an industrial engineering major. Concluded that it was a complete joke after the first intro course and that I needed to switch to something legit, FAST. Went into computer engineering and never looked back.

I don't know 9gag and I don't know how IE is at your school, but it's my opinion (and that of most engineering graduates at my school) that any legit engineer (including software engineers) can do an IE's job anyday. Then again, you might go somewhere where IE is really big.

I originally was computer engineering, but went into my data structures & algorithm class and realized it wasn't for me (hate programming). Also realized that my main interest is pure hardware/electronics, so I promptly switched over to electrical engineering.

The problem is you're focusing on the things in life that don't really matter. When I was a kid I had hopes and dreams. We all did. But over time, the daily grind gets in the way and you miss the things that really matter, even though they are right in front of you, staring you in the face. I think the next time you should ask yourself "Am I on the right track here?". I don't mean to be rude but people like you I really pity. So maybe you could use the few brain cells you have and take advantage of the knowledge I have given you now. Good luck.

Biomedical sciences graduate, unemployed and looking for work/considering options. Got quite the academic record so I'm confident I'll be able to forge myself a successful career, once given an opportunity anyhow. At present ill with glandular fever so life's on sick leave... happy 2012.

I am somewhat biased, but if you have an interest in clinical trials/clinical research, have a look into the biotech/pharma/medical device industries. Supply is not keeping up with demand.

Cutting edge science, help those in need, everyday brings something new, lucrative (if you are good), and essentially will never be without work (i.e. there will always be disease and a need to cure/prevent it).
