Exactly why I refuse to own almost any import. I sit in my engine bay when I work on the 351.

I have a 04 powerstroke, had a 06 5.9, and just recently bought the female a 2011 durango, which is quite spacious under the hood. Ive seen my share of engine bays, I worked at various dealerships, various performance shops and even ran a shop for 3 years. I can safely say its mainly imports. Some pontiacs are pretty bad as well.

Standards made a comeback a couple years back but are slowly dying out, as of now they are only good in older vehicles and cars you drive for enjoyment. Almost all modern performance vehicles have autos and for good reason.

I really hope you are not serious, arguing that is idiotic. I take it you believe in unicorns and world peace too.

Supposedly Bentley CGT is getting one.

C7 Corvette to get 7 speed.

I believe a lot of cars are getting more gears.
Why is that? Because they shift quicker?Been to HQ THREE times

Thats one reason yes, but automatics tend to handle power better in theory. Miss a shift in a high horsepower standard vehicle and tell me what happens. Although standards are better for optimizing the use of powerband. If you are being timed, IE. Drag, auto is the way to go, although in a autocross or something of the sort Id go standard.

The assistant Scoutmaster of my Scout Troop from back in the day owns a GNX. He ran a small auto parts business and was a part-time mechanic in Bucyrus, Ohio (my home town). He had quite a cool collection of obscure cars - a special '91 911 Turbo, several Saleen Mustangs, a Mustang SVO, an old Lambo Espada, the list goes on..
Very cool car. I was fortunate enough to ride shotgun on a short trip across the county to a gun shop and was left speechless. That was the coolest ride I've ever been on - probably the fastest too.NOV || Ohio Chapter || Be more, have less.

Yep, that's it. You figured me out.
Spending time in between gears = power not getting to the ground = wasted time. Most people who have 6 speeds will swap for 5 speeds when racing, or rebuild a 6 speed to create the ratios they like/want and never touch 6th, especially draggers.Official Supp. Misc Beer Policeman

<--------- #1 Automatic hater.
I can't stand the trend of almost every performance car manufacturer offering automatics and sometimes removing the manual all together. I don't care if it can shift .07xx/sec faster than a manual or that it can rev match the clutch for smoother shifting, removing driver inputs destroys the overall experience.
Totally fine with autos for the family car, just not for performance cars.
Then again, I prefer an option-less car. I don't need leather, nav, sound system, etc. Give me a car with a stick and the biggest engine available and i'll be a happy manFree Agent.

LOL, hemi's dominated racing for a very long period of time. There is a reason a hemi design is used in top fuel/funny cars, etc. The modern hemi is a great platform, they just put it in pig fat cars. That issue, along with mopar being an idiot and not working with the aftermarket computer wise, has killed the big performance aspect. The 6.1 platform is incredibly strong and can take a ton of power without breaking. It's the tuning the limits the majority of the cars.

This is when my viper was red:

Then it got painted blue. Then I destroyed the street tire record (drove the car to the track). Was set around 15-16lbs of boost on this run:

There were 5k people at the track when I made the run, I had been racing in a 6.50 index class. When I lost in the semi's, I came back to go after the record which was 6.30's. Went 6.10, then 5.80's.

This car is in Oklahoma now, sold it about 3 months ago. Here is the latest project:
