Doctor Visit
Went to the doctor yesterday. 4 xrays and some painful twisting/poking was all it took to figure out what was going on.
I had a much better understanding of the issue when he was showing me xrays and drawing me pictures than I do now.
He said "shoulder impingement" which I had figured out by spending 5 minutes on google and elitefts.
He said that one of the fluid sacs in my shoulder could be getting banged up and inflaming. Or some of the tendons? ( i think) in my RC could have torn slightly.
Wanted to give me cortizone to eliminate the problem, or at least mark one problem off so he knew for sure.
I declined and decided to try an NSAID and a few visits to PT.
Hoping for the best. I won't be pressing overhead today. Gonna limit ROM and do board presses then work my tris.

I like it tho. hahaha.
Thanks bro. I'm hoping it's something I'm able to rehab at home as long as I put in some extra effort and take a little longer warming up.
From the angles/ways he was pushing/pulling on my arm, it seems like the most pain is from a pulling from the back similar to the liftoff-rack on bench press.
I can think of a particular training day where I was doing inclines, and no one was spotting me and i kind of lost it on the rerack. Could've pulled something then. I'm gonna get lift-offs for the next few weeks and do more board pressing and see if I can't figure this issue out.

not so 5/3/1 workout
1 workout partner had a sick kid, so I made him stay home. The other worked late, so I decided I'd push my workout back for him, cause I wanted a spotter. Decided I'd do something when I got home.
Speed/Conditioning
Seated box jumps. (sit on something around parallel, then explode up into a box jump).
30"x5, 36"x5, 38"x3, 40"x3, 41-42"x 2 singles.
Sled Drags (It's a tire filled with concrete. Not sure of the weight, but the added friction makes it a bitch to drag)
4 or 5 trips dragging backwards up my driveway and back down.
Ate dinner, Played some Call of Duty, then got ready for round 2.
Warmup
2 cycles: (Done with Micro Mini Band)
Band Pull Aparts x 10
Shoulder Dislocations x10
Face Pulls x20
Bench
Barx10
115x6
135x5
185x3 off a 1 board
205x2 off a 2 board
225x1 off a 2 board
I was thinking this would help my shoulder since I wasn't going through the full range, but the heavy weight still bothered it. Deloading next week and I'm considering not pressing at all during it.
Pullups
Weighted ones were done with chain hanging from my neck, so that probably adds another 5ish pounds.
BWx10
+5x5
+10x5
+15x5
+20x5
BWx10
Pendlay Rows
No set numbers here. I just did them.
135x8
135x13 Strange PR for me. Don't think I've done more than 10 before with that weight.
135x10
Other Assistance
Face Pulls with Mini Band. 2 sets of 20.
Triceps Pushdowns. Micro mini x 20 Mini x20 Monster mini x 20 for 2 sets
Decided to end things with a bro workout. (I don't do curls often, much less something like this) 55 pounds, started at 12 reps and went down to 5. Passing back and forth between my partner and me.
I'm trying to stay positive, but I was pretty pissed off after board presses to say the least. Shoulder was killing me and I'm extremely frustrated to see myself losing strength on bench because of this. Taking next week off from all pressing (may try pullups).
Any suggestions for a way to work my chest and tris some without crazy shoulder strain?
I've thought about using light DBs (around 15 to keep weight light on chest), looping a mini or micro mini around my back and into my hands, and trying some type of DB press like that. Should be a little heavier at lockout.

When I was doing 531 I had two seperate occasions where I pulled/slightly tore something in my chest/shoulder. I laid off bench/press almost completely for about 4-5 weeks each time... MAYBE using the bar for 3x5 once a week or do to keep the groove. That's what I would recommend instead of finding ways to work the muscle. I'd focus on NOT using the hurt muscle/joint while doubling your recovery efforts like ice, muscle rubs, contrast showers, Epsom salt baths, saunas, extra protein etc...

Thanks for the advice. I'm trying to be level headed here and tell myself to not press. I know that 3-4 weeks off to heal is much better than 6 months off after a major injury. its just so fu**ing frustrating when you love training and can't. I'll try to not do anything that upsets it, maybe put more focus on conditioning and building up my squats/deads. having 2 less training days a week should allow me to add some leg volume sense I'll have longer recovery time.
is there anything i could do so we could just forget about this, officer?
They're pretty neat. Saw a youtube vid of laura phelps-sweatt doing them and decided I'd try it.
it's worth the buy for rainy days, or injuries when you can't train as much

I will add my thoughts to your shoulder. It took me 8 months to have knee surgery and work my way back to where i was. I am just now hitting pr's after my late april surgery. Trust me when i say that 4-5 weeks or frustration is nothing compared to 8 months of frustration. Also, knees heal much faster than shoulders. I knoe rc tears can take up to a year with no lifting. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

Thanks man. I'm taking all of next week off, and then trying to just press the bar on the following week to see if it was just inflammation/ a small problem. If there is ANY discomfort I'm done benching for quite a while.
Considered this. But I don't think I need anything that taxing on my CNS to keep my squat numbers going up.
I think I'm going to really focus on building my squat/deadlift up and maybe do a deadlift only meet this year instead of full power, depending on my progress.
Actually debating playing with gear (suit, not syringes). Never thought I'd say it, but if I'm hurt and not training as much upper body, I've got a little more time to learn how to use equipment. Haven't decided yet.
Everything is going to **** right now, so I'll see how things look.
Car was dead for a week. Bad ignition relay and a flooded engine.
Fixed it today. Stepdad takes car for drive, gets pulled for expired tags. I had no idea.
So now, on top of spending 30 bucks on a car part, I've got a 25 dollar ticket, a registration to renew, and my inspection runs out this month.
That on top of Dr visits and physical therapy is pretty much raping me right now.
Praying my W2's bring some good news.
