I just got done reading the stickies and a science journal about supplementation and weight training. It seems that the most important things are amino acids, protein, and carbs for supplements. But would supplementation even matter for someone new to lifting like myself? I started in October. I'm thinking about purchasing these supplements:
Pre:
Xplode
EAA supp
Carb supp
During:
Carb Supp
Post:
Protein & BCAA supp
Does this seem rational for a semi-new trainer?
Are there any important things I'm missing?
I'll rep for serious advice.
Thanks

if your new, i would say just keep it simple....a good quality whey protein post workout(odds are your gonna get the bcaa's you need from the protein anyways). and a good carb source( fruit, oats, etc.) if you need tha extra jump before a workout, then yea go with preworkout. i wouldnt go with n.o. xplode tho...i recommend Assault or Craze.

Multi vitamin fish oil and creatine. You dont need a carb supp food works just as good. Bcaa sups are a luxury wouldn't say they are necessary. Supplements can help with hitting nutrition goals, provide energy and focus assist with recovery but diet is first and foremost. The multi and omega can be taken care of through diet.

yea...but i wouldnt say creatine is essential. Food, water, and iron are the only nessesites to gain mass. Even though one's diet may be spot on its still good to take:
-Multi
-fish oil
-protien (if hasnt been met by daily macros)
-Creatine-Nate
PSN-N8TE

I know this post is old, but I found it on Google. I just wanted to sound off that YES, there are some absolutely essential supps for newbies. Look into the scientific findings of Glutamine and recovery times for surgery patients being reduced by nearly half. If you apply that science in your routines, you can recover from your workouts in nearly half the times than without Glutamine.
Also, take some time to research the scientific findings of the effects of CLA, and fat burning. Controlled study groups have found that the naturally occurring CLA, has definite impact on ones fat loss for reduction of belly fat and increased definition.
Finally, you must intake about 40 grams of protein from a whey protein powder supplement daily.
