I was pressed for time, so I kept it fast paced. I was in and out in 35 minutes. I went super light on the dl's just to play it safe. They felt good and hammies were firing, though!
I took my TAP yesterday, which is Illinois equivalent of the basic skills test. If anyone is familiar with Illinois and their new laws on weening out prospective teachers, you will know that just recently they replaced the basic skills test with the Test of Academic Proficiency. They made it much harder. Prior to the new bill, you would need roughly 50% on each content area to pass. It was a combined 260 score or something... now you need to get at least 80% on each content area exam in order to pass. After doing some research, I learned that the first six months the new test was in place, not a SINGLE prospective teacher passed the exam. No joke. The success rate of a student passing all 4 content areas on their first try is a mere 4%... just ridiculous. I studied my butt off for math, and well... I have to retake reading comprehension and, pending grading, I may have to retake the writing portion... I was pretty upset, but after reading how difficult it is for almost everyone, and the fact that barely anyone passes all of them their first try, I feel 10 times better lol.
We have a big game tomorrow at noon. The team looks ready, but then again, I thought we were last week before we got spanked lol.

Praxis is the exam required to get into a teaching program for any state that does not have their own test. For example, Tennessee does not require teachers to become certified by their own state standard test, therefore a prospective teacher in Tennessee can take the Praxis I or II. Illinois has THE HARDEST teacher prep test, and I'm not just saying that because I didn't pass lol. It's true
So, to answer your question, I can't take the Praxis to become certified unless I move to another state.*Professional comic book geek* *semi-pro cartoon collector* *full time nerd*

Sorry to hear about the test, but at least you aren't alone. Failure just motivates us to work harder though. Food is looking amazing to my contest prep mind. That pizza looks sooooo good.

trying to catch up from the busy week... that testing process sounds RIDICULOUS... it's almost like they are purposely trying to hedge the number of prospective teachers to avoid the possibility of hiring them. for your pizza are you using TJ dough or making your own, because it looks BOMB

No need to just lurk. Feel free to chime in anytime!!
They're from last year. 1 more pack left . They're quite tasty!
I saw that advertised on theimpulsivebuy. Pretty cool stuff. I will "keep my eyes peeled."
They literally say that the new certification process is to weed out any weak prospective teachers. Personally, I think it's bs. Some people just don't test well. It's a fact. A lot of what they teach education majors is the fact that some students need alternate forms of assessment because standardized testing doesn't always give a cut a dry perspective on a person's actual abilities. Guess what kind of test they're giving these prospective teachers? Lol. Blows my mind.
That dough was actually walmart brand. They have a little pouch of flour you buy and just add some water.

Intro (been a while since I've done one of these lol)
So today was a long day. I woke up and did some chores around the house, made Sarah and myself some breakfast, and headed out for our game. I arrived at the field about 5 minutes late, but didn't waste any time getting the kids warmed up. Warm ups went well, and all the kids seemed extremely focused. The game started off BAD. A false start right away, and then 2 clean plays and a HUGE holding penalty that negated a 35 yard td run. Blah. We ended up winning 15-0 (stupid jr.football PA rules), but had 17 penalties against us. Srs. Kids are about to get the smack down next week at practice. Going to be a lot of hard counts (by yours truly), and ANYONE who jumps off will be running laps. They're going to hate it .
After the game, I slammed a couple pop tarts on the ride home and got a quick upper hyper sesh in. I had a ton of stuff to do, so I had to make it quick. I got it done in under 40 minutes and felt awesome. Here's what it looked like on paper :

All in all, a good workout. Loads of volume, but well shy of failure on pretty much everything. Time to get some zZz's and get my grow on!*Professional comic book geek* *semi-pro cartoon collector* *full time nerd*

it's amazing how fast strength can go on exercises when you haven't done them regularly! i'm having the same issues on DB bench right now. 17 penalties is pretty gnarly lol. sounds a bit like OK State against Arizona (stong fail on my current team's part...)

So I finally got back to real squatting and pulling from the floor. Feelsgoodman. I went light, but everything felt great. Something about DL'ing and squatting in the same day that makes me feel totally alpha. I wore my inzer again too! Wore it MUCH lower, and although it dug into my hips, I didn't have any problems!
