So, at the risk of jinxing myself I'm going to start a journal here one more time.
I started BTFFTM today and signed up for an unofficial 90 day challenge which begins a week from today. I'm starting today, however, because I'm a chubby butt and we're putting in a swimming pool. Swimming pool = bikini and bikini does not = my current body -- no way, no how. This may be the best thing for me as it's motivating me a lot.
I'm doing a zig zag nutrition plan -- 3 days low and one day high.
To start I'm going with 15% below maintenance for the low days and that's 1,711 calories. The high day is 2,012 calories. I'm going with a 35P/40C/25F split to begin with, taking measurements each week and tweaking as needed.
I'll be lifting on Mon, Tue, Thur, Frid and doing cardio the first week for 20 minutes post workout and 40 minutes on non-lifting days, when I'll also do abs (Wednesday and Saturday). Sunday will be off.
My goal is to lose at least 7% body fat in 90 days, preferably more. I'm approaching a hormonally challenged age, so I don't know how fast it will depart my behind. I say approaching because everything is still going fine so far. Once menopause hits, I may be kukukuku. I know I've read it's even more of a battle after that. Oh joy.
Oh -- and I weigh five freaging pounds more than I normally do -- so 126lbs. Oink, oink. The wine and chocolate was good. lol
I'm not telling my bodyfat, but I'll tell you if I'm losing any. haha
My measurements are depressing, but I'll share those:
Chest: 37.25" (Holy boobage!)
Waist: 27" (blubber)
Hips: 37.5" (Big Bertha Behind)
Shoulders: 38.5"
Biceps (I call them peanuts -- these won't grow): 11.25" flexed
Thigh: 21.75" (oink)
Calves: 14.75" (oink, oink)
So there you have it. I feel determined. I'm not quitting. And when football season gets here will someone please yell moderation at me when it comes to beer and wine? Good Lord.
Next post will be today's workout.....

I woke up this morning and walked Luke 30 minutes before breakfast.
I went to the gym. I'll start posting weights in about a month or so. Right now it's just depressing to me.
Shoulders and Hamstrings
3 sets of 12 each of:
Standing Military presses with dumbbells
Side Laterals -- did these one side at a time as it tends to help me not to use momentum
Facepulls
4 sets each of:
SLDLs with dumbbells
Walking Lunges holding dbs
Buttblaster
All of that went fine, except I was using probably about 1/4 of what I used to lift and still got faint feeling. I was only resting 30 seconds between sets, so that may have gotten me.
I noticed during the walking lunges I was sweating bullets and my legs were shaking. On the second set of butt blasters I started feeling faint/nauseated. I pushed through the 3rd set and then went to the locker room to hide until it passed. I decided to come home at that point and not try to get on the elliptical right then.
I walked Luke 30 more minutes when I got home and then had my post workout meal.
I ended up doing 20 minutes on the elliptical around five o'clock.
Eating is going great today.
I'm going to watch the National Championship tonight.
I need to fix my signature.
My Steelers bombed out, but I do not care. I get tired of everyone picking on Tebow anyway.
PLUS, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY my Gamecocks won more games this season than they ever have -- 11!!!! WOOHOO!!!!
GOOOOO COCKS!!!!
We went to the Bowl and to Universal Studios and MGM while we were there. Plus, Brittany and Derrick went to the ClemPson/West Virginia game also. lolol What a great weekend for Gamecocks!!
I'll post few photos from that while I'm on a roll. I already have them uploaded to photobucket."For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7

Hi Elise! LOL!! It's traumatizing!! Plus, we had to take down about a 1/4 of the backyard bushes and trees that blocked the neighbors out. Horrors! lol We'll definitely be replanting some large trees and shrubbery to cover them back up.
It's for our home in Columbia. It's so hot in Columbia and miserable in the summer as we have no breeze and such high humidity. I told Brian that Luke (our Golden) needed a way to cool down.
Yes, Venuto's book and I really like his information also. He knows what he's talking about.

Capital One Bowl:
I didn't really love our vantage point -- field level in the end zone is problematic for me:
Brittany liked her bam bam sticks:
Take that Nebraska! lol :

Me and Brian, Jr. at one of the parks:
Me and Brian, Sr.:
Me hugging Britt's husband at one of the parks. It was soooo cold that day!! Little did I know he would really need that hug in advance of the ClemPson game the next day. hahahahaha
Waiting to go into the Tower of Terror:
It was sooo much fun!!
The Harry Potter Ride -- best ride in the parks currently, in my opinion. Fun!!:
Brian, Sr., Brittany, Derrick and Brian, Jr. on the Rock and Roll Roller Coaster. I wanted to get on, but Derrick lost his fast pass and was too scared to admit this to Brittany (haha). He is deathly afraid of roller coasters, as is apparent in this photo. Look the way his hands are crossed over his bars and at the expression on his face. Poor thing!
Okay, that's enough.
That's all I got tonight.Last edited by Hibiscus09; 01-09-2012 at 05:01 PM.

Today's going great as far as working out and nutrition are concerned. My second day back at the gym was awesome.
Back and Biceps
Assisted Pullups, 3 sets of 12, one set of 10
*18 year old trainer chick decided to come over and give me pointers and hung out to spot me every set. This gym is the worst about have excess trainers and they are trying to sell their wares. They want people to sign TWO YEAR personal training contracts. As if. Is it rude to wear a shirt that says, "Buzz off. I'm training." ???
One arm db rows, 4 sets of 12 each side
DB Pullovers, 3 sets of 10
Hyperextensions, one set body weight, 3 sets weighted -- 12 reps
EZ Bar curls X 3 sets of 10, 10, 8
Hammer Curls X 3 sets of 10
Cardio:
20 minutes on the elliptical
I walked Luke 30 minutes this morning and as soon as I finish my post workout meal, we'll do walk # 2 for 30 to 40 minutes.

Thank you! She lucked out and caught me at the beginning of a new year when I've recently resolved to try to be a nicer person. Plus, she was so young and said she's a new trainer. No need scarring her early. lol
Thanks Tiffany!!
I know, right? It irritates me. Dummies come in there that are new and buy into their sales pitch, sign that contract and then quit within a couple of months and they are on the hook to continue paying.
Luke is great!
I love him.Last edited by Hibiscus09; 01-10-2012 at 07:38 PM.

Great motivation with the pool and a great start - considering that you are starting from an "AFTER" photo for most folks. I have my own tennis ball loving lab and he is fun to walk. Nice to be able to have a dedicated walking companion.

Happy Wednesday everyone!!
I hope you're all having a great week.
I've been tweaking my cardio a little this week to figure out what I think is a good starting place.
Initially I was going to do 30 minutes five times a week.
Then I decided to just to do 20 post workout and 40 on the two non workout days.
Now I've decided 20 minutes post workout and 30 minutes on the two non-workout days, plus the 3.5 miles I walk Luke each day. That's a good starting place and I won't burn myself out or do more cardio than is necessary fom the get go. I think what is necessary for losing body fat is a good place to be and I don't want to overdo cardio.
When I contest prepped, by the end I was doing one hour of walking seven days a week before breakfast and 45 minutes afternoon cardio five times a week. Poke my eye out. I felt like Forrest Gump for sure. Never again. Of course, with the Luke walks -- maybe that is what I'll end up doing. loll It just doesn't seem as painful with little Luke along.
So, today was just cardio and abs. I did:
Cardio
30 minutes on the elliptical
Abs
3 X 20 reps ball crunches
3 X 20 reps bicycle crunches
3 bridges, holding 30 seconds each time
It's been forever since I've done abs and even when I was in super shape I was bad about skipping abs. So, this is going to take some motivation on my part. I don't think I've ever done a bridge, except with a trainer and I need to look up how to do them properly. I felt i in my abs and think I was doing it correctly, but had no idea how long I should hold the bridge or anything like that. I suppose I could have done that before I headed out there to workout.
It was a home gym workout today. Luke is not scared of many things, but he's scared of my stability ball. It's my fault. I took it out in the yard one day and kicked it around playing with him. I thought he was enjoying it. Apparently, he was not enjoying the activity. Yikes. Hopefully, he'll adjust over time. I didn't mean to scare him!
Y'all have a great rest of the day!"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7

Kudos to you for doing cardio. That is my nemesis. I will occasionally jump rope or do sprints, but there seems to be some sort of anti-polarity thing happening between me and the machines at the gym! I do like taking long walks, though. Not ready for a dog, even though I admire yours.
What's an ab bridge?

Love the pics. The Tower Of Terror is one of my kids favorite rides down there!!! We had to ride it several times when we were there over Christmas.Burning Fat Cells One Rep At A Time

I generally love cardio, although I know a lot of people don't. I will get back there, I'm sure. I plug into my music and go to my own little fantasy world. I always tell myself I'm going to jump rope for fitness, but have never done it. I jumped rope all the time as a young girl with my friends. There is a really good double dutch group in the area where I went to middle school at Valley Park. I would really love to have a stadium in which I could do stadium stairs.
A dog is like having a new baby. Keep that in mind before you take the plunge. I wouldn't trade him for anything in the world.
An ab bridge is a plank.
Thanks Hoos! Have you heard from Penny lately on this site?

Huge ditto on the stadium staors! I'd also like access to a track. I was a sprinter in high school and I much prefer sprinting ona track than on the treadmill.
