A little about me:
Hey guys! Just a little about me. I'm a 19 year old amateur lifter. I love the sport and love the people within it. I've always wanted to compete but have put it off the previous couple of years as I wanted to focus on schooling and work. Now I find myself in a great company who support my training and goals. I can now aim to do and compete in my FIRST bodybuilding competition. I plan to give this EVERYTHING I can.
I have decided to seek the nutrition and training advice of Layne Norton. Reason being is that I want to get my first show right! I have always looked up to him as an athlete and decided that he's advice and guidence will stay with me for ever after my first competition.
All I know for certain is that I have SUCH a long way to go but I have no doubt that I will succeed. The support I have from my friends, Layne, my job and my family will get me through this year!
Competition Dates
September Sunday 23rd - Lifestyle Classic NSW - Bankstown
September Sunday 30th - New South Wales Natural Titles NSW - Castle Hill RSL
Count-Down: 37 Weeks Left <--
Starting Stats:
Age: 19 (Will turn 20 in July).

So just went online then to check out the dates. So I can compete in these two shows?
What's your guys opinion on doing both shows? I'm thinking the more the merrier (We'll see how I feel about that contest time).
September Sunday 23rd - Lifestyle Classic NSW - Bankstown
September Sunday 30th - New South Wales Natural Titles NSW - Castle Hill RSL
I'll be keen the whole year! Hopefully get as lean as you and Webber when you competed.SydMisc | Team: Norton

Those are the two shows I did, and Kyle competed in a show the weekend before the NSW Titles as well. I think competing before the NSW show is a good option, and the Lifestyle Classic is a very small show, so pretty good fun and a great way to get comfortable with being on stage. There was a lot more interaction with the other competitors at that show, and I personally had a great time (plus I won a TV lol). Under the guidance of Layne, you should be sweet to peak twice in 2 weeks. It only started last year, so its not quite as well run as the NSW show, nor are the bags/competitors shirts as cool, but you'll get a lot more opportunity to meet people there, and just walk around the venue and see some of the other categories, as its much less packed than the NSW show.
Also, youll need someone to go with you backstage to tan/pump up/etc (plus take you to the show, given you dont have a car) ... Id be honored to be that someone lol. You should actually start thinking about your tanning stuff and posing suit soon, because as you get closer to the show, there are more and more things you'll be surprised you have to spend money on (waxing, registrations, food, etc). I got a lot of compliment about my color, and still have 2 bottles of tan and a tub of top coat if youre interested."Dont rush to get grown, drive slow homie"

This post made me smile so hard haha!
I'd love for you to help me prep backstage bro! I wouldn't pick anyone else. As we get closer and closer, we'll rent out some of the Fitness First studio's for posedowns Seriously though man, your help through this is invaluable. I'm so happy I've got a wicked network of support.
And yeah, screw it. TWO SHOWS IT IS!Last edited by TheNaturalEdge; 01-02-2012 at 01:17 AM.

Date: 3rd of January
Workout: Chest and Back Hypertrophy.
Time: 55minutes all up.
Rating: Solid/10
Highlight: Weighted Dumbell Fly Stretches - tbh never really did these until now. They felt so good, I'm starting off really light then working my way up.
Extra Notes:
It felt so good to kick start this year with this session. Admittedly I did go quite hard for myself on New Years party-wise and a stomach bug has crept up on me during the past couple of days.
I decided to take the 1st and the 2nd off to recover and hit it hard today. Whilst not feeling 100%, I still gave 100%. It was an amazing session and it felt good to follow a workout plan to the dot.
The gym was empty which was awesome, I got to have every machine I aimed to use.
After chatting to a couple of the folks at the gym, turns out a couple of other guys are considering competing this year. Hopefully, I can push them to do it with me
It's funny, something that Kyle said to me over ******** actually hit hard on me, "so long as you treat it like you're about to step on stage the next day then you'll be fine". It's really a different mindset and as I realise that I only have 37 weeks left till my show, it's time to really push hard now!

Workout: Legs Hypertrophy.
Time: 55minutes all up.
Rating: 9/10
Highlight: Dynamic Effort Box Squats - Never really tried these before but WOW. Absolutely loved them. Hopefully over the months I'll get better at these!
Extra Notes:
So, the stomach bug I've had for about 5 days is finally subsiding, lost a tiny bit of weight but nothing really to worry about. Smashing some pro-biotics to get back to 100% (Digestive Enzymes have also helped a-lot).
I would write more but to be honest, this workout was ridiculous - and I need a nap. I'll update this post later

Highlight: Everything - Getting back in the gym and TEARING it up after a week sick. NO better feeling.
Extra Notes:
So finally! I'm back in the gym hard, after this week feeling terrible I was able to train HARD today.
It's funny because i've been doing this routine (or so I thought) for some time, but today I followed Layne's new epic workout rep by rep and realised I wasn't doing the volume that's intended. After this workout I was dead! I was falling asleep on the bus home and someone had to wake me up at the last stop haha!

I'm actually so motivated by this video. Give it a check out.

Hahaha I was so hoping someone would like that DBZ Strip. How wicked is it! Seriously though, Goku (and Gohan) may be one of my greatest inspirations.
Also, with my food I found that outside on my outdoor table it has the best food lighting. Considering on leaving the fitness industry to be a food photographer hahaSydMisc | Team: Norton
