    Is this a viable strategy?

I'm currently in the middle of basketball season so I have little to no free time during the week and I am only able to work out saturdays and sundays. Since I can barely work out I have been cutting for a little while but I'm losing too much muscle and I'm tired of not getting bigger and stronger. If I were to eat a surplus of calories on the weekends when I work out and continue to cut during the week would I gain mostly muscle on the weekend and lose mostly fat?

If you think your losing too much muscle why don't you just increase your intake overall?

Eating at a surplus over the weekends will help to build a small amount of muscle, maybe, that is provided that everything is in order. Such as training macro intake etc. chances are you will barely notice any real gain though.

My suggestions is as before, just increase our calories some and complete your cut. when your done then bulk. Although frankly at your height and weight I don't know why your cutting but to each his own.

I'm cutting because I can barely work out and I have far too much bf for liking, and if I just increase my overall cals I don't lose fat.
