First and foremost, thank you to Neogenix and the Neogenix reps for giving me this opportunity.
NEOGENIX NEUROSURGE
NeuroSurge™ is an ultra concentrated nootropic-based performance support.* It's formulated with a combination of cerebral stimulants and antioxidants, which may help promote energy levels and cognition while supporting positive mood.*
NeuroSurge™ works by enhancing the release and uptake of neurotransmitters in the brain.* When these chemical messengers are elevated in the proper sequence, a powerful physiological and psychological effect may occur.*
As a result, NeuroSurge™ may support strength and endurance levels and decrease fatigue, both physical and mental.* It may enhance cognitive abilities like focus and concentration while promoting a steady stream of energy throughout the body.*
Key Neurotransmission Modulating Systems:
Adenosinergic Matrix: May help promote methylxanthine and its derivatives, which are central nervous system stimulants that promote alertness and energy, support lipolysis (fat burning), spare muscle glycogen for enhanced endurance, and may also induce vasodilation for improved circulation during workouts.*
Dopaminergic Matrix: May help support dopamine, which plays a major role in the brain system responsible for reward-seeking behavior.* It provides feelings of enjoyment that motivates a person to perform certain activities.* Dopamine is also a chemical precursor to the "fight-or-flight" hormone, Adrenaline.*
Cholinergic Matrix: May help support acetylcholine, which is the primary chemical messenger of thought and memory. This excitatory neurochemical is essential for memory storage and recall, and partly responsible for concentration and focus.* It also plays an important role in muscular coordination and control.
Serotonergic Matrix: This Matrix may help promote serotonin, which is an inhibitory neurotransmitter that is intimately involved with mood. It may help promote a healthy appetite level and may also help support healthy sleep patterns.*

Just took my first scoop.
First impression review:
Taste: 10/10
Fantastic job on the taste, guys. Definitely the best tasting supplement I've had so far, and I've been a huge fan of Xtend
Mixability: 6/10
used a spoon and cup. Next time I will try my shaker bottle.
A significant amount of the powder clumped up. Had to fill the cup with water a few times to get all of it.
Effectiveness: ???/10
I will comment more on this later, after my workout.
It's been 15-20 minutes since I've taken the scoop, and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be feeling. I'm used to the "amped" feeling of regular pre-wo's and BA tingles. None of that is present with Neurosurge. However, I do feel a somewhat "heightened" sense of focus and alertness. I also feel like I'm experiencing a slight "tunnel vision". I do feel a little more energy and warmth throughout my body.
However, I'm not one to buy into a product so quickly. Many of my experiences so far may very well be the result of a placebo.
I will adjust for this and comment post-workout.Forum Representative

As far as random gym spotters go, he's the best one I've had though.

notes:
going to maintain Bench weight, hopefully will press for sets of 4 next week
The neurosurge is most definitely a unique supplement. I'm used to the "amped" energy from stim-prewo's, but that's definitely not the case with Neurosurge. I had a steady flow of energy throughout the session, and while I've experienced crashes/fatigue towards the end of a workout with other pre-wo's, I definitely noticed that neurosurge had no drastic energy change. I'm still fine, and don't feel like taking a nap after my workout (which I usually do).
Focus is the highlight of Neurosurge. I was much more focused and on-task than usual in the gym and during/between sets. There was no daydreaming or mind wandering.
Pumps were less than stellar (although I realize that Neurosurge is not a 'pump product'), since I am used to products with heavy stims.
Overall, I still cannot give Neurosurge a "solid" review of its effectiveness, until I use it for a while (which is the point of this log, obviously).
I look forward to how the product will influence my progress and workouts/strength levels.Forum Representative

Bench ME Day
Bench Press
195 x 4
195 x 4
195 x 5
strong rep PR. Got into a real nice groove today. on the 5th rep of the last set, my spotter slightly tapped the weight, but I'm counting it anyway haha. Bench is finally budging. pretty happy. Will do 200 next session. Can't wait to do work sets with 205.
Weighted Dips
BW+10 x 9
BW+20 x 7
as usual, going slow and controlled on these with perfect form and low volume. I still find dips to be the best stimulator for my shoulders by far, but done incorrectly they have proven to be very painful for joints.
Floor Press
135 x 7
155 x 5
155 x 6
165 x 6
a new movement for me. I really like it though. Considering incorporating it into my training. Really hits the triceps hard.
Tricep Cable Pushdowns
110 x 15
120 x 8 x 6 x 4
last set was rest-pause. Low volume since I hit triceps with the floor press.
Alternating DB Curls
30 x 10
30 x 9
30 x 8 x 5 x 4
last set rest-pause.
Notes:
Pretty happy about my pressing finally budging. Felt pretty strong today, very focused. Neurosurge is somewhat hit-or-miss for me. I am still experimenting with timing protocol. So far, I have found that it works best to take the neurosurge, take a shower, and then head to the gym. idk why it works for me lulzForum Representative

Well...I'm not sure how to log today's workout lol.
So I found a new powerlifting/strongman gym near me a few months back and I finally got to visit today.
holy chit it was an experience.
Basically spent 4 hours loading atlas stones, flipping tires (flipped a 400-500lber across the room wsup), checking out all the sick equipment like the different squat bars, the sick ass texas power bar, prowlers, logs, sleds, mountains of bands, etc. Felt like a kid in a candy store for the first time.
Took me forever to finally load a 200lbs (i think?) stone and even shouldered it twice. Tried the 250-260 one (i think, i forgot the weights lol) and I couldn't pick that ****er up. Turns out my grip is weak as a bitch.
I might change my gym officially and go here from now on. They are still building it and it doesn't have everything a bodybuilder might quite need, but as a strength nerd, this place beckons to me.
I squatted 340x1 lmao. even though I hit 335 for a triple last squat session. I'm pretty sure the very new environment and using no mirror definitely threw me off. I expect my strength to continue progressing, however. Followed squats with 135x7 155x8 155x7 goodmornings. When I went for a 2nd rep with 340, I failed halfway up. This is the first time I've ever had to dump a squat. It felt mighty ****ty lol, pretty good motivation.
Can't wait to go back there, might go back on monday.
Future log updates will be more organized.Forum Representative

Notes
Somewhat decent workout. No real PR's to speak of. Felt not-so-hot today. Low energy.
Besides the machine rows, I had a hard time really feeling my back muscles being worked today. I think it might be because my biceps are hellishly sore today from yesterday's atlas stones. During all rowing movements, it felt like my biceps were doing all the work.Forum Representative

I'm definitely enjoying it.
it's much different from other pre-workouts I have taken in the past. Not the most amazing burst of energy, but it definitely provides a solid stream of focus and endurance. honestly, I would prefer something with more of a punch for max effort days when going for a PR, but Neurosurge would still be in my top 3 pre-workout's of all time.Forum Representative

Glad you like it man! It is definitely in a class of its own, as far as pre-workouts go.
I understand where you are coming from with the looking for more of a "punch", as NeuroSurge helps more with dialing in your focus more than anything. Have you ever given CryoShock a try? IMO that gives a nice, strong kick for those max days where you want to go real heavy and hard.
Bummer about the workout today man, sorry to hear that. How was your nutrition prior? Anything different than usual? Days like that suck, but I have learned that you can't always expect to have the most incredible workouts everyday you step in the gym. I just brush it off and it gives me more motivation like you said to perform much better next time aroundNASM Certified Personal Trainer and Nutritionist

gonna have to get stronger on these if I'm going to be competitive in strongman.
notes
strong workout, sumo deads are getting MUCH faster and explosive. Glutes and hams are exploding off my legs from the GHR'sForum Representative

cryoshock? never heard of it. I will look into it, I'm always on the lookout for new pre's.
my nutrition was not too good, I lost weight for a few days. Due to the fact that the scale at my gym was off, and I thought I was overweight by 20 pounds lol. Yea it was pretty much just an off day, hoping to do much better this fridayForum Representative

pretty good workout. got a little hungry towards the end, due to having an early lunch today. Energy was good.
Pretty explosive on the bench, still (as always) tweaking my technique for maximum explosiveness.
My elbows, especially my right one, hurt a good bit because of the heavy farmer walks yesterday. I'm thinking about investing in some elbow sleeves.Forum Representative

wasn't feeling the weight today, couldn't get into a strong groove. Didn't feel like I had a PR in me.l
But on the 2 rep of the last set, I said f*ck it and ground out a third. felt pretty good afterwards.
2 Inch Deficit Deads

these were brutal, definitely getting strong. Blue bands are tough as hell
Notes
pretty good workout. took a while and kept the volume to somewhat of a minimum, since I wasn't feeling too hot today.
Helped the owner during his 2 inch deficit deads. he worked up to 605 for a single, pretty ****ing insane and inspirational.
tomorrow I will bring a camera to the gym and do something of a tour, and maybe shoot some movement tutorials and/or tips.Forum Representative

notes
very nice workout. the speed was definitely there.
going heavy on the GHR's have really blown up my hams and glutes in terms of size and strength.
best movement I've ever used in training by far. My bodyweight is stalling a bit, trying to force myself to eat more.
have to continue gaining weight.
Possibly deload next week, will see how it goes this week.
thoughts on neurosurge so far
still loving the pre-workout, as usual.
has juust enough caffeine in it to wake me up after a long day of classes.
definitely noticed that it's a nice pick-me-up before getting to the gym.
I'm still not convinced that it's something I would use all the time, like for Max Effort or heavy days, but for general purposes and speed days, it's perfect.Forum Representative
