    Protein

Excuse if this is an amateurish question.

When they are referencing the amount of protein to eat to gain or lose weight how am I supposed to calculate. Am I to calculate based on the weight I want to be? Or my current weight? I.E. being 300 lbs and wanting to get to 215, or 215 getting to 230 lbs, etc.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Fwiw, I'm 175lbs right now and cutting on 140-150g protein per day wit no change in muscle loss compared to when I used to cut wit 200+g protein. Personally I'd try to figure out your lean body mass and shoot to hit about that number in protein

    It's a debated topic.

It's what works best for you so you maintain strength while on a deficit. I started cutting at 215, currently i'm down to 195ish. I consume about 1800 cal/day and about 160g of protein.

When I set my goals I went off my Lean Body Mass Estimate. So far my body fat is down and my strength is high.
    ----------------------------------------------
    6'2 - Begin @ 215lb. - 12/23/11 @ 197lb. - 1/19/12 @ 194lb.
    Goal - 185lb @ 10-12% bf.
