    double pronated grip on deadlifts

Does anyone here deadlift with overhand grip only on deadlifts ?

Im probably going to start doing this for a couple reasons.

    1. Alot of the time i will have uneven pulling action happening with mixed grip.
    2. I am able to lift a little easier when my dominant hand is supinated .
    3. Pronated or snatch grip better mimmicks performing cleans or snatches. The only time mixed grip is used is on deadlifts.

Hook grip is what should be used if you aren't doing mixed. Especially if you care about mimicking cleans or snatches

I'm confused, but why can you use more weight with a hook grip than with a double overhead grip?

supinated hand needs to hold the bar as deep as possible in the palm. the pronated hand should hold the bar between the knuckles of the fingers and the callouses of the palm. that made a big difference for me.

Thumb in hook grip keeps the bar from rolling out of the hand, similar to how mixed grip works.

    I'm not sure I understand.

    1. If you're got an muscular imbalance, shouldn't you switch your over/under hands for a while (few months, or whatever) until the imbalance corrects itself instead of double overhanding? If you don't really have an imbalance but are concerned about an imbalance, why not just alternate your over/under each set to try to keep a basic balance? Using a mixed grip seems to take the "weak grip" link out of the chain - why go back to weakening the chain by using double overhand, which can and probably will restrict your dead?

    2. k. I thought I've read time and time again that that was the norm? Regardless of it if it is or isn't, I don't understand how that relates to overhanding deads?

    3. If you're an oly lifter, or so concerned with your clean and/or snatch, why aren't you doing more cleans and/or snatches instead of deadlifting/worrying about what grip you use while deadlifting?

I'm sure, out there somewhere, there's a fetish for double penetration deadlifts.

Switching from switch to double overhand solved a ton of form issues for me. Not saying I couldn't have worked them out while staying with switch grip, but it was literally like magic for me. Worth a shot.

been using the hook grip on cleans and deadlifts. i've kind of gotten used to it and i actually would prefer it over your standard gripping method.

I use a double overhand as well as a double pronated grip as a accessory lift to hit my upper middle back more.
Hook grip is terrible for me since I have a joint disease and I end up dislocation my thumbs.
