This Thursday, a bill that would create America’s first Internet censorship system is going to a full committee for a vote, and is likely to pass.
This proposed bill is intended to eliminate all forms of online copyright infringement and to ban “rogue websites” (sites the U.S. Government deem conflicting with the bill) from being accessed through American servers. Although the bill may seem arbitrary and insignificant to the average online user, it has the potential to drastically change the way citizens use the Internet forever.
User-contributed websites like YouTube and Tumblr would be held responsible for all copyrighted works uploaded onto their servers. Therefore, administrators would be forced to heavily regulate all content that can is streamed or can be viewed from their site. With no sensible means of efficiently screening all the images and sound files uploaded for copyright infringement, many of these sites face the likelihood of being forced to shut down.
The bill would also raise the penalty for uploading copyrighted works from a misdemeanor to a felony, making offenders of the bill face the plausibility of serving prison sentences absurdly high for the crime committed.

Google itself has hired at least 15 lobbying firms to fight the bills; Mozilla has included on its Firefox browser home page a link to a petition with the warning, “Congress is trying to censor the Internet.” A House committee plans to take up one of the bills, the Stop Online Piracy Act, on Thursday
On the other side, some of the biggest business lobbies like the Motion Picture Association of America and the United States Chamber of Commerce are supporting the bills. Both sides, in fact, plan to spend millions of dollars for advertisements aimed at swaying consumer sentiment.don't put rep trading comments in your sig line

yea because they want to be sued more and have to hire 1000's more employees to oversee the entire content of their search engine and every other large company on the internet that they own.
It'd be cheaper to pay a couple bros to vote "no".
But crazier stuff has happened, i supposeI can do amazing things for your body composition. PM for more info.
