OP didn't hack a government computer. A computer on his botnet that was scanning random ranges happened to come upon a government computer that probably had zero significance on the network it was on. If he would have been smart, he would have disallowed the scanning of the range it was on. Government ranges have been known for over a decade.

Remember this was over 8 years ago so IRC was the best way to host a botnet at the time. You also have to remember all .5mil were not connected at once, at most I had over 100,000 connected.

I got caught because I was 17 years old and dumb, I used my real address and name for payment from canadian companies. The feds knew 80% of where my income was coming in from. They didn't need to find suspicious activities on my ip addy, they had enough proof just by the checks being mailed to me.


There are people out there now making millions of dollars doing what I was doing.

I have a question about 3rd world countries involved with this stuff. so if you did all this from some sht hole in say Ethiopia, could they not get you? do 3rd world officials just not give a sht about online crimes of this nature (along with sht like child porn)?
