Day 19/70 of filming today. I have a very miniscule twitter update today:
asabfb (3/17/12)
Swinging around on wires @HaileeSteinfeld Good times x
Valentine and Peter returned home, so that means the Demosthenes and Locke thing will most likely not be a part of this movie at all. I can't blame them. They're going to return at a later date, though. In other news, that tweet means that they're filming the scenes where Petra is teaching Ender some skills.

Quick News Update 3/18/12:
http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20577069,00.html - In-depth cast listing by Entertainment Weekly
The descriptions for Peter and Valentine make it seem like they're actually keeping the Demosthenes and Locke parts in the movie. People are also suggesting that they're integrating Ender's Game with Ender's Shadow to increase the delivery of the movie better through exposition. And, according to the link below, Orson Scott Card was fine with the fantasy game being written out of the movie. It's a pretty old link, though; so hopefully they DO include the fantasy game. I'll be extremely pissed off if they keep it out. This movie should be as long as Watchmen, if not longer.

Oh, and here are some REALLY OLD scripts created by Card (note: these don't accurately represent the film coming out in 2013):

I know I've been regurgitating a lot of information from Ender's Ansible, but I think it's sort of necessary to just compile everything in here. I also watched Hugo, and I thought Asa did pretty well. I have high hopes for him.

Okay, I'm going to post some interviews/clips so you guys can have a better idea about how these actors are like. Some of them are pretty outdated, especially Brandon Soo Hoo's. So, yeah, disregard some of the voices.
Moises Arias
Khylin Rhambo
Asa Butterfield
Hailee Steinfeld
Aramis Knight
Brandon Soo Hoo
Abigail Breslin

Quick News Update 3/28/12: (big note, I actually found out how to hyperlink correctly, so expect much more professional updating)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1731141/fullcredits#cast - Christine Bieselin Clark joins the cast as the costume designer and Zach Staenberg joins the cast as the editor
Extra Reading about the above (highly recommended for fans):

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1731141/.../196839906?p=1 - Discussion about Zach Staenberg
TO THOSE WHO AREN'T AWARE OF Christine Bieselin Clark AND Zach Staenberg:
Christine Bieselin Clark
Zach Staenberg
Christine Bieselin Clark's costume design highlights:
TRON: Legacy
Watchmen
300
Zach Staenberg's editing highlights:
The Matrix
"If you think regular school is tough, try it in a rotating space station. And by the way, do you have a hall pass for hall number 0058? Because if you don’t, you could end up scrubbing the showers. When you first arrive at Battle School, all you perceive is its utility, its functionality… that is until you enter the BATTLE ROOM, where there is no up, no down, and ZERO G’s. Movie making can become overly reliant on digital worlds, and nothing can replace a well-built set that you can see and touch and stand in the middle of, fooling you into thinking you are really there. Enjoy this small taste of Ender’s big world. We’ll see a lot more in the weeks to come."
My Thoughts:
Honestly, the addition of these two are GREAT. Staenberg will be especially useful in editing the Battle Room scenes, and I can foresee the school uniforms as being very aesthetic, much like the TRON: Legacy ones.

I will see this regardless of reviews/word of mouth/quality.
Ender's Game was the first SciFi book I ever read and one of my favorite childhood books.
Even read some of the sequels. Speaker for the Dead and Xenocide. Started Children of the Mind, I think.
brb being young teen and reading about some space cadet student or some chit jamming a pencil in his eye. That happened in one of the books or something. Xenocide was long as chit and a bit much for me.
Ender's Game and Speaker were great reads, though.?

Really, after Speaker for the Dead, OSC was just writing those books to make $$. Anything after Children of the Mind is all written years after the original series and IMO just a $$ grab for Card to go back and write more books 'behind the scenes' or whatever. He should have left well enough alone with the original series, all those extra books are crap. And it kinda pisses me off because Ender's Game and Speaker were such kick ass books. He basically went back and made the series into Ender stumbling along and Bean making everything happen for him. Bull****.
Really, Card wrote Speaker for the Dead and then went back and made his short story about the battle school into the background info for Ender Wiggins. EG was only written as background for the Speaker book, and it turned out to be the more popular book.
Personally, I've always thought that the EG movie should NEVER be made. Too much stuff in that book to ever do things right in a movie.
PS Remember, the enemy's gate is DOWN.

^i agree completely, the first two were great but the rest seemed like bull****.. i did read Xenocide but after that i couldn't be bothered with any of the others.
honestly i feel like them making this movie would ruin my childhood a little.. i was so offended when they made a Wrinkle in Time movie, this is similar in my eyes. why do they have to make a phuckin cheesy movie out of everything these days? why can't kids pick up the book and actually read it? i made sure my little brother read all the same classic books i did (Enders Series, Wrinkle in Time, Martian Chronicles, LOTR series, Wizard of Earthsea series, etc)Meditation is the sh*t (srs) (no hippy) (strong informative thread):

I didn't know they made a Wrinkle in Time movie.
I'm a pretty big fan of OSC, but I don't think he's written anything good after 1997. All of his works after that seem pretty commercial. Part of what turns me off about the EG movie and the extended books is that he's been trying to sell that book as a movie for 15 years now. Seems like he's just worried about making a buck now, not writing good stories.

Day 35/70 of filming today guys. They're halfway done, and both Hailee Steinfeld and Khylin Rhambo have finally been incorporated into their first scenes last week. They're making some excellent progress. Oh, and Moises Arias isn't 5'1. I believe he's 5'6 now, which means that he's a bit taller than Asa Butterfield. I've been trying to keep things in text format more often since these image hosting sites never last. By the time the movie comes out, half of the images in this topic will be gone.Last edited by Reg1432; 04-01-2012 at 01:08 PM.

"“Houston, we have a problem. We don’t know how to land the Shuttle.” Good thing it’s just a simulator safely on the ground at SPACE CAMP in Huntsville, Alabama. Aramis, Moises, Asa & Suraj (pictured above from a monitor in the MISSION CONTROL ROOM ) and the rest of our cast agreed that to do Ender’s Game right, they had to train as though they were really headed into ZERO G. And this wasn’t just an afternoon spent taking a vanity tour. From the Manned Maneuvering Unit (MMU), which simulates extra-vehicular shuttle *missions in Earth’s orbit, to the microgravity training chair that prepared astronauts for moonwalks during the Apollo program, the week at Space Camp was genuine prep for the feeling of reality that this movie deserves. And after all, the army that trains together stays together."

Quick News Update 4/8/12:
https://twitter.com/#!/payton_elise_ - Asa Butterfield's girlfriend's twitter
^ EDIT: She deleted her Twitter for some reason.
Now, after reading up on her twitter a bit, it seems that she's just an extra. But, here's the thing. She mentions something about launchies, and she better not be a god damn launchie since she's 16 years old. That's just totally wrong. Although, she does mention that her role is in Dragon Army, so that renders my past point irrelevant. After reading that Hollywood scandal thread, the thought of this girl even having a role in this movie sickens me. Also; does anyone find it weird that they have added so much women to this movie? I'm not necessarily hating on that aspect, it's just that I never imagined all of these characters when I read the book. I didn't even think that there would be another girl in Dragon Army other than Petra.
Tweets:

@NoWayItsCJ really well! Our last day for a while for launchies is Monday, idk what I'm going to do with my life!

Quick News Update 4/9/12:
http://blog.endernews.com/2012/04/ne...e-medical.html - New roles for Ender's Game
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2404349/ - Han Soto's IMDb page (Colonel Graff's aide)
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1319584/ - Wendy Miklovic's IMDb page (Female doctor)
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm4870473/ - Joseph Uzzell's IMDb page (Medic)
So, right now I'm guessing that Han Soto will be playing Dimak. Otherwise, I don't remember any other "aide" from the books. But, I find it odd how IMDb labels him as Colonel Graff's aide instead of Dimak. The other two will likely be playing the characters who remove Ender's monitor. Day 43/70 of filming today. Also, is anyone else interested in buying Ender's Game merchandise? There hasn't been any official products on sale, so I'm hoping someone has any good ideas on how any of us can buy some stuff.

Okay, I just had to bump this again. There's a HUGE update right now.
http://blog.endernews.com/2012/04/en...pushed-to.html - Ender's Game release date pushed back
boborci (4/9/12)
dont mean to make you wait a bit longer, but we just got a ridiculously good release date for #EndersGame. Nov 1st, 2013 - thanks 4 input!
I'm a little pissed off. It'll definitely be good for the movie in terms of winning awards such as the Oscar's and for having an extended deadline for editing, but I don't want to wait so god damn long. It's kind of irritating. Well, the good thing is that it won't be rushed. I really hope it isn't garbage.

As much as I respect the book, Orson Scott Card is a top tier ******* and I refuse to further support anything related to him.

I loved this book and NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED to see this movie.
And to OP's original post about opinions:
I am skeptical but my LOVE for this book is WAY to strong to let simple things get in the way of me seeing this movie.
I remember reading this my first time and thinking to myself... WHY ISN'T THERE A MOVIE YET?
What discredited him for you?Last edited by Breem; 04-09-2012 at 04:25 PM.
