Having bikini or figure separate would be a great idea to control the length of the shows but it wouldn't be profitable for the sponsors.
Bikini usually starts the show here and ends with men's bodybuilding. Prejudging starts at 11am and then the night show I think around 6. Last year there was little time between prejudge and night show. I think I left around 11:30pm that night and the show was still going when I left.

Yeah hence the kettle bell training. When the weather gets nicer I might forgo the tradition gym set up and concentrate on my cardio and my agility outdoors. Lots of outdoor parks with equipment to scale. I am also training for the Spartan Race in Calgary in August. So both will coincide nicely.

I got 270 on incline today for 5 reps. I was quite happy with that. I thought about doing 315, but there was no one around to spot me

Unless you're a lobster fisherman there's probably a job for you here. I'm glad my gym is kinda small and friendly so I can get the staff or some of the regulars to spot me if I need.

You had to go there......
That's fine. So bench press day you get to feel good about yourself for being stronger than a man almost twice your age that was cursed with phcuked up shoulders.
But every other day I get to yell at you: "DO YOU EVEN LIFT???"

A helluva lot higher than it was in BC depends if you work union or non-union too.

If you have skills, you can get a good job. If you have none but are willing to work, you can get A job, but it might not pay well. Living expenses are atrocious here as well so keep that in mind. You're looking at $900/month to rent a room in someone's house :-P Most of the work camps are pretty good if you go that route.
And I just got word that all the gas stations in town are out of fuel because the highway has been closed.......*sigh* Welcome to Fort McMurray

They are good, most are not free, they take a percent of your paycheck if you are going to use the lodging, If they require you to stay on site it's a different story.

It depends who you work for. I have never paid for my camp in the 15 years I've spent in construction. Most up here are quite good, some (MLV, Millenium) kinda suck, but I've been to some that we're amazing as well. A good camp can make all the difference.

2736 usually does their intake for new people in March, right before shutdown season. Better work/conditions/money in AB with 1460 once you get your IP. We take permit hands up here when it gets busy if you have your red seal, then if you get 3 months work or a recommendation letter they usually sign you up.
As a side note. If you show up to any union hall with proof of qualifications they are not allowed to refuse you memebership. Freedom to associate

How difficult is it to get into a job out there that'll get you into a trade?
Any other major players other than Suncor and Syncrude?

Not sure what it's like in non-union sector as I have no experience in that area, but for Union they like the permits to have a Pre-apprentice course. Dont really have any "trade helper" type positions anymore.
Other large players are CNRL and Imperial Oil. Many of the companies also have more than one "site". For example I work at both Suncrudes Aurora and Base Plant sites (tho not for them directly).

Interesting.... what are these permits exactly? You go to school for a few years beforehand to get them or something? Or is simpler than that?
