    Day 10: Water Retention

OMG, my wt is wayyyyy UP from eating salty food and over 5000 calories for two days. I look very puffed and feel deflated. I know it will go down in a couple of days but I just can't believe I let myself be this way.
Need to do lots of work done to get back to where I was before the trip.

Plan: 1) 10K training - it is not scheduled to run another 10K yet, but I need to.
    2) Nutrition - trying to meet the minimum macro requirement
    3) daily walk - 3M

    Update: 1) 10K trg - didn't feel like running this morning. walked/jogged 5M in 83 min
    2) Nutrition - Cal 2,446 C 256g F 117g P 108g over 1000 cal over and too much Fat from eating whole bag of potato chips
    3) Daily walk - 3M

I just don't understand why I am writing this journal. If I want to transform myself, I need to eat less. However, I don't control my eating behavior at all. There would be no positive changes if I let myself like this. I need to be stronger than food. Control my emotion around food 'cuz I am an emotional eater. I was just fine until my lunch(Meal 2) then, I was upset with something, I threw my diet out the window. I need to think about what I want out of this journey.

    Day 11: IIFYM

Despite of lack of control(eating), my wt is down 4 pounds. It is still more than what I weighed on last Friday. I was hungry last night(I snack while watching TV usually) but didn't eat anything. I need to keep doing that. One moment of right decision brings the glory!

    Plan: 1) 10K training - 5.5M
    2) Nutrition - IIFYM try to meet min. of macro requirements
    3) daily walk - will be raining so, 1.5M if I can
    4) ST - Upper body

    Update: 1) 10K trg - 5.5M in 67min
    2) Nutrition - Cal 3,406 C 448 g F 118g P 147g
I was hungry after ST(after 7PM) and ate everything in sight
    3) Daily walk - 2M due to flurry/rainy weather
    4) ST - upper body drop set done!

That is so true and for me sodium is a killer and as you know i am such an emotional eater anything can set me off. I try to make good choices and i will do good for awhile but if the scale doesn't say what i think it should i get into the whole why am i doing this to myself mindset..know what i mean. I keep pushing on and hope one day i will get it right.
I wish i was one of those people that could just eat a few cookies or a half a cup of ice cream..that just isn't me.

I am so proud of you for making the right choice last night. The key is string those kind of days together..i need to practice what i preach

    You have a wonderful day

    Day 12: Lost a word :-(

I am not a happy camper this morning. I knew last night before bed, I would not see the scale go down since I ate tons of food late(right before bed). I've been going to bed later now and I notice that I'm more hungry. I have a bad habit of snacking while watching tv late at night. I did well on Monday night but last night was different. I finished my ST and took a milk bath. I felt good thinking I didn't eat too much and exercised. But then, as soon as I sat down on the couch to relax, boom, 'I am hungry'. I thought I need to eat since I lifted weight and my body was telling me that I need to refuel my body. (ST makes me hungry all the time). So I ate greek yogurt, and a cup of pineapple juice. Then I just couldn't stop from there. I always have a mental notion of 'all or nothing' ,which is bad for dieting, and thought I screw the diet and why not eat all????
I am so upset that I did this again. But the scariest thing is that I wanted to eat as soon as I got up this morning(4AM) even though I wasn't hungry. I weighed myself and saw the number on scale went up a half pound from yesterday (but it was not a number I was hoping for) wanted to give all up. I watched tv infomercials about the wt loss and watching obese people made me realize that I will be one of those people if I let myself go. I weighed over 200 pounds in my life before and I don't want to go there again. I'm glad that I didn't eat anything yet (who knows I will go 'coo coo' and eat all up??? But I promise I will not.) Why can I be a person who has a strong will power and become an inspiration to others? I admire people who transform their bodies in bb.com. They have strong bodies but most of all, strong mind. That is so important. I want to be like that.
I am mumbling this morning but I am glad I came to this site and write how I feel. I will do what I need to do in order to achieve the look I want today, tomorrow and everyday until I die. I am weak yet I will be strong. I will, I will, I WILL!

I don't want to write any plan this morning. I know what I have to do.

    Hey you

Do you plan out your food daily? As in... bring what you're going to eat for the day to work or have it all set up at home to eat that?

If you're still feeling hungry (hungry NOT BORED) you could also make some adjustments to your macros. You could lower your carb intake and up the protein and fats (may help you feel fuller longer... carbs are fast energy that may not fill you up for long)

Also it sounds like you need to go to bed earlier so that you're not sitting around bored which is what happens to me and I will go snack on something as well.

:-) Good luck and keep on truckin! This is a continuous journey with bumps and changes in direction so don't get down on yourself - stay positive.

Well i don't have to tell you i am an all or nothing eater. I have found that if i am doing something while watch TV i am fine. Like knitting, doing puzzels, games anything that maybe has your mind and hands doing something. I play games on my iPad,i look through magazines. I find if i just sit there my mind wanders.

LaDonna is right i try and keep my proteins up and my carbs low. I log my meals the day before or early in the morning at MyFitnessPal.com..ok most days when i am not in one of my depressed moods.

I watch the commericals too. I find most of them funny. The ones where you can sprinkle some powder on your food and lose 60 pounds with no exercise and you can eat anything..OMG..people really believe that..i wish i could come up with something like that and make a million.

Anyway i hope you are feeling better now. You know we are the same so i know what you are going through..i don't want to be over 200 again either. You know i am here if you need me..ok

    Thank you, LaDonnaMF & Vanessa.
I felt so lonely in this journey esp. when I feel I don't get any support from my family. They want me to lose wt but then, when I don't eat same thing as they do, they are not happy. I think that's why I am here. In this(BB.com) community, people understand. I am happy to find friends like you. Thank you again for support & encouragement.

I have been there back when i was first trying to lose weight. My last husband was all for it until he saw i was serious then he started bring all kinds of crap food in the house. The funny thing is the more he tried to mess me up the more i wanted to lose the weight. I guess he figured if i changed i would not want him. The truth is his actions made me see how much he did not love or respect me because if you love someone you want the best for them..he wanted me to stay his fat little wife. So i lost the weight and then lost him.

I was i had this forum back when i first started losing. It really helps to be able to talk with people that understand and offer support. Some days when i am feeling low i come here and look in my journal and see the post from everyone and it makes my day to know there are people i have never met that want to brighten my day and make me feel better..

Ok i know i am rambling but it's been one of those days if you know what i mean..You keep up the good work

Day 13: Winners never give up!

I didn't exercise at all yesterday. I didn't restrain myself from eating yesterday(total 2500ish). I weighed same as yesterday this morning. What does that mean? Is my TDEE equal to 2,500? According to Harris-Benedict calculation, my TDEE is 2,000. I don't know. Maybe tomorrow morning will explain my wt fluctuation.
I ran/walked 5.5M this morning and consumed about 2800 calories of food today. I only burned about 800 calories. Net comes out 2,000. Just wonder about tomorrow's WI for my transformation thread...
Walked my dog 3 miles but I don't count this as my daily burn since I don't walk fast.
Still thinking why I am doing what I'm doing. I am not happy with the progress I have so far and hopefully I will lose fat every week in March and on.

    Day 14: Girl power

Yesterday(Feb 22) was one of those days I didn't want.
I had my morning walk before my exercise. (I usually exercise then walk my dog.) Then, came home and had a breakfast(pancake & bacon). I couldn't exercise since I had food in my stomach atm. Time went and didn't want to exercise at all. My hormone was going haywire, I just wanted to eat, eat and eat. I knew why I was doing it--my period is getting close. Being a girl, I like most of it except that. My back hurt and didn't want to do anything. So, I rest yesterday and didn't want to think about losing fat. Ate crap of food and only walked my dog 3 miles. It was raining on and off all day and gloomy. This kind of weather doesn't make me motivated to exercise at all. Need to find some motivation.

Day 15: Get back on track!

This morning I weigh 163.4 w/ bad eating & no exercise yesterday. My 10K race training is suffering since I'm not really giving it 100% of my effort. I need to keep pushing and achieve my goal what I set in the beginning of this motivation transformation thread I'm participating. Not a good progress at all so far, but I wouldn't give up.

    Plan: 1) 10 K training - run 10K, cut 1 minute from last run
    2) Nutrition - keep it under 1,000 calorie since I ate two days worth of food yesterday(I know it's low but I need to do it in order to avg wkly food intake of 1800)
    3) daily walk - 3M
    4) project - finish making a headboard

Update: 1)10K trg - 69:30 for 10K, reducing 1:20 from last run GOAL MET!
    2) Nutrition - Cal 2,760 C 260 g F 125 g P 154g
    3) Daily Walk - 1.5M
    4) project - It should be an easy DIY project (for the tufted headboard) yet it is so harder than what I saw on internet. Today I was trying to finish it and got a scratch on my face(almost poke my eyeball) and frustrated. Now I'm taking a break from this project for a while. I was too stubborn to ask for help. It is my project and I wanted to make it by myself. Well....I think it's easier to buy a new headboard. Arggggggg

    Day 16: Idk

My wt is down 2 pounds from yesterday. I burned about 800 calories from running but ate 2,760 calories. I just don't know what's going on w/ body. It is good that I lost wt but am scared I'll get those back right away. I'm still above what I started with this month. I just think my wt fluctuate a lot depends on my monthly cycle. I haven't done anything different yet my wt could be up or down. Maybe that is why men are tend to lose wt faster than women besides they have more muscle mass. They don't have this hormone related crazy cravings every month. I want to eat a lot and am craving for sweet, chocolate, greasy food about 10 days before and it lasts until 3 days later I get my period. Then I'm okay for a week and it starts all over again. I feel as if I'm in 'never losing fat' wheel and can't get out. With all the cravings, I also have back ache and joint pains now. Last evening, I had pain in my right elbow, which I hurt from lifting wt, even though I didn't lift a thing yesterday. Am I abusing my body exercising too much? I can't lift heavy as before my injury last Sept. I tried to lift wt in spite of pain but it is getting worse and I am afraid. I'm taking easy but I sure want to lift wt heavy. I hope I get better and want to do ST after the 10K race is over. Right now, I am concentrating on running which I don't like but I need to do it to burn more calories (and for a race).
I am just confused as ever and losing fat is not simple as what it seems to be (calorie in vs. calorie out).

    Update: 1) 10K trg -5K in 34:30; pain in R knee
    2) Nutrition - Cal 2,181 C 178g F 96g P 154g
    3) daily walk - 1.5M

    Day 17: Mood enhancer

Weather has been cloudy, rainy, breezy and flurry lately. But today it will be sunny. I am excited to have a nice weather. I know it will be raining season soon(where I live rains a lot in March & April) and the weather affects my mood so much. I hope I can find a way to lighten up my whole attitude about life. Life is GOOD!

    Update: 1) 10K trg - Ran/walked 5.2M this time my L knee hurt
    2) Nutrition - Cal 1,748 C 189g F 59g P 113g
    3) daily walk - since it's sunny, went to park and walked 5.5M in 2 hrs. It was just too much walking after running an hour in the morning. Then took 1.5M walk after dinner. Total walking for my 4 legged friend - whopping 7 miles. She needs foot massage, where is mine???

    Day 18: Sleepy

Today's wt is same as yesterday even though I burned over 1,000 calories and only ate 1,800 calories(low for me). I was trying to think the reason and the sodium intake was more than 5,000mg. I don't eat salty usually and I went overboard since I was eating bunch of unplanned food after got back from park. Oh, well...at least it's not up.
Even though I was so tired from exercise & walking almost 8 miles yesterday, I couldn't sleep last night. Up since 3:30AM this morning and I'm sleepy now. I drank coffee but it is not working. My workout is going to suffer :-(

Update: 1) 10K trg - rest day; I felt I'm running too much even though I need to prepare for the race. My both knees have been hurting so, it is definitely a good day to rest. Bought 'Glucosamine Chondroitin' for joint pain, hope it helps out w/ the pain
    2) Nutrition - didn't measure the food. went to the Brazilian Steak House and had good meats & salad but when I got home, I went overboard. I just wanted to eat. And I did. Now I'm guilty of eating too much.
    3) daily walk - only 1.5M since it was raining all day.
    4) ST - Chest

    Day 19: Pain

My wt is up 5 pounds since yesterday. Eating too much and not working out shows on scale. I couldn't sleep last night due to pain in my R arm(previous injury) and Upper body(ST). I got up 3AM again and I was afraid that would ruin the diet & the exercise so I tried to sleep little longer. It is weird that I'm aching everywhere even though I didn't exercise much compared to other days. I thought the rest will help me to recover from all the pounding I do to my body yet I'm soar than ever. Is ST hard on body than cardio? I wish I feel better soon.

Update: 1) 10K trg - another rest day
    2) Nutrition - binge again
    3) Daily walk - 2M so far
    4) DIY project - Headboard is finished finally. My R arm is in pain but I'm glad that it's over. Need to find another hobby to occupy my time

    Day 20: Anticipation

Last day of Feb, I'm going over what I had in my plan vs. the actual. Another month, I haven't lost any real fat. My 10K training is going well except the knee pain. My joint problem in my R arm is not going away. I just started the join pain supplement and it takes time to work so, I will be less miserable by end of March(crossing my fingers). If the pain continues, I don't think I will participate in the race. I haven't paid for it yet so, there is no worry. I just feel running is not good for me any more. It helped me when I was really obese but 10yrs of running, my knees are done. Need to re-direct my way of losing fat. I know ST is the option yet I have the injury that is not healing quickly as I hope. I just have to be strict on my eating. That's all I need. I will do that in March. Learning to eat - I have the answer and I am very excited to see the outcome when I'm doing what I suppose to do. Now on, I will focus on eating in deficit and meeting the macro.

Update: 1)10 K trg - I need to stop training on my 10K race. Not a long distance at all which is over 3 miles, I guess. Today I had a major pain on my R ankle which cause me not to walk on that side of leg. I ran 4M and walked 1mile on treadmill in pain(knees). I thought it would be okay after rest a half hour. But it has been really bothering me. I took 2 days of rest this week and I don't get any better. My body is telling me that the 10 lbs wt gain over 2 months is really bad on my knees and running often & longer are not a good idea. I will try to run tomorrow and don't feel like running then, will take a week off from any sort of exercise is high impact on my knees.
    2) Nutrition - didn't count/measure at all today. I had a nonfat yogurt for breakfast and ran errands for 3 hours. A BIG mistake...so, so hungry and hubby wanted to eat out. Went to Red Robbin and clean the whole plate of food(hamburger & fries, so yummm). Then ate some dark chocolate(darn PMS) and Honey BBQ chicken strips for dinner. Almost 3000 calories?!
    3) Daily walk - 2.5M

Are we the same person. I have also been running since about 2003. I have had issues on and off but the last year has been bad. My hamstring and my this may sound weird but kneecaps..like on the top. I have been taking glucosamine-chondrotin for a few months and that does seem to help. I have also been having pain in my right shoulder. I think i did something back when i had a squat rack and lifted heavier. So now i really have to keep my weight low for upper body work.
If you don't mind me asking how old are you. I know my daughter who is 24 had no trouble losing weight with just cutting out the junk and doing cardio 3-4x a week. Me being in my last 40's i have to do something everyday and still it is a struggle. I hate to say this but i have got to the point where i have stopped logging my food and although i am not over eating i am not eating on my plan. I am so tired of the salads, tuna, broccoli i always have..i am trying to find some new things to eat that are not to bad for me but lord a girl has to live ..right..

Sorry i think i went on a rant..but i know you unlike some people here can understand..that is why i am so thankful you journal here..I wish you luck in the next month. I know you will do better than me..you head seems to be in the right place.

Vanessa, I would be just happy to see my wt scale says yours.
Do you really want to know my age? ;-) I'm 42. Yes, I know how the body is different in 40's. I feel it everyday. I say 'ouch' everyday. I thought I never be this old when I was young. LOL

I know what you mean Mindy. I never thought i would feel creaky at 47...lol
All in all i feel good for my age. I just wish i could run, lift and feel as good as i did even five years ago.
We should give ourselves credit..we are doing something. Living here in SC i see so many people who have just give up and look like i did when i was at 225 or higher. I stopped weighing myself when i hit 225
    .
I know i am not perfect but i do try. It would be so easy just to sit on the couch and eat junk all day but i know where that would get me and i do feel better when i do some kind of workout everyday.

Even just a year ago i though running was the only workout and if i didn't run i was really doing anything. I think that all or nothing attitude is what hurt me. I think i am wiser now and moving is the key. Just get out and do something..

Well i didn't have to worry about my food yesterday. I went to the dentist so needless to say it was a low cal day.
Do you have any fun plans for the weekend..

    Day 21: MARCH

I can't believe two months have been gone without any progress. But I still have 10 more months to see some good result. I mean I want to change my body in 2013 and will. It just takes longer than I thought it would.
Good thoughts will bring success. Let's smile and imagine what I look like in 20% BF.

    Update: 1) Nutrition: Cal 1,905 C 250g F 51g P 115 g
Had a big lunch rather than dinner. I kept myself busy cleaning when I got hungry. I need to keep doing this whenever I want to eat out of boredom. I was actually amazed it worked.
    2) Exercise : I ran 4M and walked 1M, surprised I didn't have much pain as yesterday. I didn't run fast or on hill. I am trying to see what causes the pain in my knee.
    3) Daily walk - 2.5M, my R ankle still hurts whenever I walk. It doesn't hurt when I walk on the treadmill but outside. I wonder it is the shoes. Tomorrow I will wear different shoes when I walk my dog.

    Day 22: One more

Well, I signed up for another wt loss thread. I am good at starting. But never finish strong. I will be joining as many as wt loss competition this year. I want to keep my motivation going. Yesterday I was thinking I need continuous desire to lose fat and want to involve more in BB.com community. I never achieve the bikini figure I want but if I don't try, I will never know and will regret that I didn't do my best. It maybe slow but I will reach my goal this year and show my hubby I can do it. I said so many times that I'll lose wt, he doesn't want to hear about it. This time I am not saying anything to him. It's up to me to be who I am. It will be lonely journey but it will be worthy. I can only count on me. GO me!

It's up to me to be who I am. It will be lonely journey but it will be worthy. I can only count on me. GO me!
I'm glad I have been lurking in you're journal because I ended up joining that March -- June weight loss competition, too.

I can sense your frustration. What do you think is your biggest stumbling block?

I'm so glad you stop by. Well, I think my biggest block is my eating behavior. I eat out of boredom and once I start eating, I want to FINISH whatever I'm eating. That's why I am scared to buy large quantity of stuff. I could measure and portion the food but my brain doesn't think that. (Don't I have an eating disorder problem!) I know I have more than what little serving portion I put it out and want to eat more right away. I don't know how to fix this problem. Lack of control obviously.

    Day 23: So irritated...

I feel as I am trying so hard to be fit, I am getting more injured. I went golfing and hurt my back. Add to the list of pain I am having right now, please. The list of pain in my body parts is going on and on. What's going on? My right ankle still hurts and now my back? I couldn't get up from the wt bench while I was working on my chest. I had to shorten the routine and move to the next body parts. But the whole lifting was painful.
Also, I have been very moody due to PMS. My wt is not going down because of that too(I hope). I just want to go hide.
