According to Mike Quinn in an interview on MD Radio with Shawn Ray, he took some bad last minute advise from someone screwed his chemistry up. In an interview earlier that week, Samir said he was doing his own prep... guess he second guessed himself.

a lot of this is just the way you look onstage. Every seen pics from the NPC pittsburgh? There are guy sliced and diced and then they do that show and people are like "wtf did he even diet?"

Many of you underestimate what the stage lights do to you. That's why all these guys in generally didn't look nearly as peeled.

First post in this thread that was worth reading. All others should get themselfs to actually GO SEE A COMPETITION. He did not ****ing "spill over" u retards. He is just not in shape. There's not even any idea to deplete/load yourself when you're not in shape cus it wont have noticable effect. This is just the difference between Mr.Ogympia's and Mr.Olympias, he prolly took 25 pics of himself and was satisfied only with these four, and they're all from weird angles.

i was in the pump up room looking in the mirror and was stoked. looked dry, full, had a good amount of vascularity revving and awesome separation, then looked at my on-stage pics and couldn't believe how much worse i looked. obviously different shows have different lighting, but it can make a pretty drastic change in your appearance

abso lutely. stage lighting is very unforgiving, at least it was at the show i did. however, i have noticed some shows where everyone looks like they absolutely nailed their conditioning b/c of the way shadows are created by the lighting set up, so it really depends on the show i suppose. i was chilling in the audience at my show and some people with a better trained eye than mine commented that the lighting on the left side of the stage was much more favorable than on the right side.

The lighting of late has been getting worse and worse. Yip lighting plays a huge role. I'm sure you all have been walking round the gym and one part is all dark and unforgiving, then another part has great light streaming in and you look awesome in the mirrors. Generally natural light makes you look the best. They should do more shows outside (like some of the muscle mania shows). But yeah as Flex and Buckeye mentioned, most lights are extremely bright, hot and unforgiving. I think they often dont take the time to dial in the lights and get everything looking good. Lots of the shows ive been too they just used all the audotorium lights that come with the place and then throw a bank of flood lights over the top and in front which shines directly into the line of competitors (so not like the British GP lights which appeared to be slightly behind the competitors, giving all those awesome shiny shadows)
