Grats to anyone going to Stanford, but the reality is for undergraduate, unless it's Harvard or Yale, it's generally not worth the tuition hike over a top-end state university.

Math section is easy as fuark for me. I got in a 99th percentile for the PSAT last year and i get in the mid 600's each time. I haven't started studying for that part, been working on the Critical Reading section for now. Been memorizing Direct Hits volume 1 and 2 for vocab and working on how to tackle the stories. Will try to get a perfect 800 on the math, will be dissapointed if i dont. Am also going for a 700+ CR and 750+ writing (as it is the easiest to improve i hear, but alot of colleges dont count it, so im doing this last)

Also, i signed up for the SAT classes during school as electives. SAT verbal teacher sucks balls and that class isn't helping me at all. Math teacher, on the other hand, is really good at what he does. Not suprised, he tutors outside of school for SAT's for 100$ an hour, i get him 40 minutes every other day for a school year for free, #winning

Though Vanderbilt is not as prestigious or renown as Stanford, it's still a Top-20 (USNWR). It has a very strong reputation in the Midwest and Northeast, as well as the South. Most Californians, however, are biased against the South.

Plenty of research shows that it doesn't matter 2 years out of college (and that it's based on work experience) unless it's one of the top 2-3 ivy leagues. Harvard is notably worth it, the rest become questionable.

did well on sat (something like 2100, i was a moran and didn't study), did fairly well in classes with a few exceptions caused by some other things (again, was a moran), got rejected from a number of schools (such as stanford) that other people i knew who had worse grades, worse sat scores, and worse minority status got in.

ended up going out of state to another state school on scholarship and am pretty happy with the academics.
i hope to one day be a pioneer in the sciences or the ceo of a research and manufacturing company so i can then tell schools that rejected me to phuck themselves in the ass.

i went to highschool with kids that got into cal and stuff (whereas i did not, despite having similar scores) that have started to neglect their gpa from the start of freshman year because they have discovered drugs. if you take anything from reading this, know that the college selection process is a phucking joke and in no way reflects your future performance.

i would say try and get an idea of what kind of field you like, then go to a state school that is good (or at least decent) at it. build a strong gpa (especially if you are interested in grad school), and don't take your classes or your opportunities for granted. the fact that i got shafted by other places in college admissions has been a motivating force for me, but maybe i am just a vengeful kunt.

The deviation is so low that the only university in the nation that really rises above the rest is Harvard, and that's for lifetime earning only. So most students fall into the noise - and you'll never know the difference.

sorry bout the rejection bro. Why didn't you take the SAT, most ivy's won't even look at ACT? Don't worry tho, apply somewhere else, and dominate, then apply there for grad school, when they accept you, send them the most alpha reply letter and say, sorry Stanford you had your chance at being able to claim I was a graduate. Now eat **** and die.
