    My Fitness Pal question

How does MFP come up with how many calories you should eat in a day ? Filled out the profile and it says to consume 1450 calories a day . That sounds low for a person 6'2 205 lbs male . Been cutting at 1700 . I'm down to the last 10 lbs to reach my goal and stauled on losing .

The best thing to do is just go to My Home > Goals > Change Goals > and then select custom. That way you can just plug all the numbers in manually for your daily calories, deficit, and macro goals with all the info and knowledge you've gained here.

Yes, on the MFP home page go to goals on the sub menu at the top under My Home. Then just go to change goals and select custom and set the values appropriately yourself. I would think 1700 is just fine for cutting with your stats. That's right around my daily average and I'm not having any issues. How long have you been stalled out? The last couple pounds always is the most stubborn. I'd just give it a couple more weeks and reevaluate. My username on MFP is Xnode feel free to add me as well.

Myfitnesspal bases the results mostly of BMR. It intends for you to input activity througout the day and adds that to the calories you should be eating.

The only thing that I find MFP useful for is counting my calories and macros and that's it. I don't use any of their calculations at all. I go by what I've learned here and in the nutrition forum and create my own goals with the knowledge I've gained on this board. Also be selective who you listen to on their forums or people commenting on your activity. I've found almost nobody on there has a clue and can only repeat stuff that they've heard that other people without a clue has told them.
