This sounds like you might have done well. Although yah, in retrospect you should have done the 50 pt first.

Same. I generally was able to determine how good or bad I did.
But I have known people who were how Matt described. Everytime they thougth they breezed thruogh it, they tanked. They felt they struggled and were worried, they did good.

from the sounds of it you've done good (srs). I know that mindset. Think about it. You're worried you haven't written enough or the best given you felt rushed on the big essay but you done everything else just fine and probably filled in that essay with enough relevant information. I dont think it was a bad thing doing it last. You could have easily spent too much time on the big essay. I did a similar thing in my A-level geography and dun goofed that exam.

It is semi automatic. It has an 8 round internal magazine, and 8 round clips that you put into said magazine. It is chambered for .30-06, which is a full size rifle caliber. In this picture you can see the handle on the right that you use to open the bolt.

Googled example one the loading process frozen midway through:

oh wow, in the first pic it looks like a bolt action with the bolt removed. Everything looks pristine, it must be new/unused?
30.06 is a sweet rifle. If I had to pick another, that's probably what I'd buy (I have a remington .243/6mm that I set up to shoot prairie dogs/deer).

The stock is new, the metal is old but in very good shape. It's new enough it probably wasn't drug around a battlefield getting beat to sh.it.
I have six rifles. This one ($625) is my most expensive, with number two being like $165 or something, lol. Also, of those 6, only ONE was actually brand new when I bought it.

I've never put a round through mine Bought it for a prairie dog trip in south dakota and my friend had to bail due to crazy wife issues. I'm actually a pretty good shot with a bit of practice in me, was going to try to bag a prairie dog at 500yds, and depending on how that went, 750.

M1 is a BA gun. No personal experience with it though.
Pez, it was one of the famous WWII guns. It was fantastic for its accuracy adn reliability. The downfall was it had to fire all 8 rounds, before having another clip put in. It also had a very distinguishable and notable *ping* when the last round fired. So some enemies would wait to hear the ping before starting their attack, since they knew the Americans would be slowed by a reload.

I recall hearing that story about the M1. Most of my experience is shooting shotguns. I love guns but they are so taboo in mass.

750? Yeah, good luck with that.
I have never put a round through one of mine. But then I have to Mosin Nagants, and I've shot the other one. $80 guns FTW! (probably more these days)

It was an extraordinary firearm in its day. It's still awesome today. George Patton called it "The greatest battle implement ever devised."
Chaz: You can eject a partial clip to replace with a full/fresh one. You can even top off a partial clip while it is in the gun, although it is apparently a bit tedious and your dexterity limits how many you can get in, and it takes full use of both hands (I won't be trying that one)
Modern removable-magazine fed firearms (like the M1's legacy, the M1A) do have the combat advantage of holding 20 rounds (generally, for calibers this big) vs only 8, and being quicker and easier to reload than the Garand's clip system. And of course comparing to what our military uses for it's standard rifle these days, big difference. The M4 is lighter, shorter, holds 30 rounds, has less recoil, ammo is a lot smaller/lighter, and optics are much easier to mount.
But I wanted an affordable, iconic, semi automatic howitzer.

Yes...but prairie dogs are small. And they might move while the bullet is in midair, range targets don't do that.
When I imagine distances like that, I think of a 1/4 mile drag strip...which is only 440 yards from start-finish...and it starts to sound pretty far.

Prairie dogs generally just sit up in their holes and look around. Not sure if you have prairie dogs in GA, but in texas/south dakota, they just sit there and don't do sheit. They *can* move, but the wind might be different between where you are and your target, too.
I wouldn't try to shoot a game animal from that far, but prairie dog...you're gonna miss it or you're gonna kill it.

lol, true on the second part.
I don't think I've seen a prairie dog outside of a zoo. I've seem things that look similar up in the mountains, like marmots, but that's it
