Any diet that I've stuck to has worked. It got easiest when I said to myself "I like candy, and ice cream, and white bread" and started eating them in the context of a balanced, nutritious diet

I can only handle a deficit for a long time if I can feel stuffed atleast once a day, so IF works best for me because I stuff my face after my workout. It's also easy because I only need to cook once a day.

I've been moving towards that over the last week---I like to eat big. When I'm eating 2000 or so calories a day and having two meals, the little meal is disappointing and the bigger meal is barely enough.
Been doing like a little tiny snack (candybar or something) then a big meal for the last week or so, has been working out great and am on fat loss cruise control right nowDon't Drink, Don't Smoke, Watdo you do?

My success came from a consistent calorie deficit, plus satisfying calorie sparse foods, and not cutting out anything... just eating less of everything.
Apparently, I was doing IIFYM way before I knew what it was.Jan 2010: 210 lbs
Dec 2010: 145lbs
Feb 2011 - July 2011: Rotator Cuff Injury
July 2011: Back to weights
Current Goal: Build some strength
Just eat less? Who knew it was so easy to NOT be fat?

You really have to sit down and do some reading on this and decide for yourself. There are a host of health benefits that are linked to IF such as insulin sensitivity and increased growth hormone levels, but as for weight loss... No. I believe if you read leangains.com you will see that some studies suggest that there is a very slight metabolic advantage to IF, but nothing major. It all comes back to calories-in-calories-out. IF is not a magic bullet.
IF is about health, not fiddling with 6+ meals a day, high protein, carb cycling, and lifting heavy things. (at least Martin Berkhan's 16/8 version)Jan 2010: 210 lbs

I've done Weight Watchers, LA Fitness, Atkins, and now IIFYM.
Weight Watchers and IIFYM are the only real success I've had. I feel like IIFYM has really been more of an education and discipline in eating right. Fact is, if you're hitting 150+g of protein a day, it's just hard to be hungry.
Weight Watchers is pretty straight forward, and simple. Which is great. The weekly weigh ins keep you motivated. I feel it undershoots calories to a degree, and doesn't really stress the need for exercise--which makes a huge difference.
One of the big keys to both is the freedom to eat whatever you like. No food is bad food. LA fitness is fu$%ing retarded, miserable. I lost 10 lbs in about a month on it. Which, is honestly a pretty fantastic rate. But...it's MISERABLE. You eat the same bland stuff day after day. 30 days of baked chicken/turkey chops=you will either binge or jump off the nearest cliff.
I feel like whether or not it's "part of the diet" everyone here preaches to lift weights while cutting. Weight Watchers will never do that. Lifting increases your metabolism, it prevents muscle eating, and whether or not you want to buy in, by most accounts, you can gain muscle as a noob.
I think the BIGGEST key to my success though is simply not buying things that I can't moderate. It's pathetic to have such a lack of control. But, with Doritios, Ice Cream, or Peanut Butter in my house, I always break down and eat too much of it. I can put down half a jar of PB in 20 minutes. Solution=don't buy it. I don't by candy/cookies...not because I think they're bad for me, or bad for a diet, but simply because I will binge the **** out of them.8/20:

I program everything in BEFORE I even eat it, then make adjustments if the macros don't come out to where they should be. I'm a pig, so I have no problem at all (actually prefer it this way) eating all my calories at once.
Exactly... when I snack on something small during the day, it doesn't really satisfy me... all it does is piss me off when I have to deduct those calories from my large meal in the evening!
What do you mean by "lean food"???

500-1000 daily caloric deficit
IIFYM - minimum fat(80) and protein(160), carbs not tracked but I get a minimum of ~150g per day
IF - I maintain a 6-8 hour feeding window before going to bed. Only coffee, vitamins, and a protein shake in the morning.
Lift heavy 3 times a week <-- Key to maintaining lean muscle and turning your body into a metabolic powerhouse.THE STICKIES

Most success has been IIFYM but I also like to eat every few hours. I have a lifestyle where its easy for me to eat so often. Plus I find I get full very quickly and easily so 6 meals a day works well for me. I dont do it because i think its best for my metabolism or any of that cr@p. I just like it.
The body doesn't struggle to lose weight...the mind does - keep measurements, keep your sanity.
