We see how often African quarterbacks are hyped up with Vince Young, Michael Vick, McNabb, Freeman, and Cam. The question is can these guys actually win under pressure or lead teams?
The statistics continually say no, and they keep being drafted high. What are your feelings?

All black QB's have lacked one thing. That was smarts. We will see if Cam has it. We all know RG3 has it and honestly I think he will be the one to turn this myth aroundRedskins-Orioles

Do all franchise QBs win Superbowls?
What makes Vick not a franchise QB?
Cam has had one year. Are we judging him already?
Mcnabb won alot of games and got to the Super Bowl once. Lot more then alot of QB's have done.
I guess the word myth was used incorrectly.
How? It's pretty obvious alot of black QBs have lacked something and it sure as hell wasent speed/great armRedskins-Orioles

Black players have bigger ego's (some might call this "swag"). Dont feel they need to put in the time it takes to be great. The qb position requires more time off the field than any other position. They'd rather rely on natural ability and talent then put in the extra time to prepare and study.

lol..
I'm not entirly sure that's it. Alot of "white" QBs have a ego as well.I do agree on the extra game time to study. It is well known Vick (before Reid) and Mcnabb did not put alot of video/playbook time in.Which leads me to believe someone who got a masters in under 4 years has spped and a great arm will be a amazing qb. I'm on the RG3 train my friends.Redskins-Orioles

McNabb was never legit and was an OBQ. None of those quarterbacks won dick, besides being flashy. Josh Freeman also does OBQ stuff. The problem again is African quarterbacks are too intelligent that the game is slow and boring for them.
Take Tom Brady or Peyton Manning both dumb as rocks, but the game is exciting and fast to them as they are easily entertained due to their average or below average intelligence.

McNabb had a few years where he was elite. So what if he was a system player. So was, Montana. Franchise QB, does not mean Super Bowl. Franchise QB means he is serviceable enough to keep as your starter, and build around around.
Franchise QBs with no super bowl:
Dan Marino, Mcnabb, Romo, Matt Ryan, Carson Palmer, Jay Cutler, boomer, the list goes onAlcoholism is a disease of the whole person. Sober since May 2011.

kinda ignorant IMO
of all of the franchise QBs, how many of them actually get superbowl rings? it cant be that many as only one ring is awarded per year.
now lets talk about how many black QBs have started over this time span. when talking about the proportions, it isnt likely that black QBs are going to rack up superbowl rings. hell in the past 10 years the rings have been hogged by a few QBs.
anybody who is any kind of analyst by trade could corroborate this statistically based theory.Last edited by Trapstar4.4; 12-02-2011 at 07:02 AM.

General definition: Franchise QB = guy you can build your franchise around, at least top 10-top 15 QB, will win more games than he loses.
OP's definition: Franchise QB = Super Bowl winning QB.~ Never Having Kids So Can Save Up For a 4K TV and a PLP Computer Setup Crew ~

Russell Wilson, the first QB in NFL history to throw a game-winning interception.

And Greg McElroy and Ryan Fitzpatrick are practically geniuses........your point being?
Dan Marino and Jim Kelly had the exact same score on the Wonderlic as Vince Young. The thing Cam Newton has going for him is he's actually putting in the work. By all accounts he's been very studious, has been working hard and trying to improve which is the opposite of what many people had predicted for him. I don't know about his intelligence but there's a lot of different types of intelligence.
Alex Smith basically got his bachelor's in a couple years........he's a very analytical guy, extremely bright, has the mindset of a doctor or an engineer. Not necessarily the best trait for a quarterback because he's always overly thinking, he wants to control every aspect of a situation and can't simply let go and manufacture something out of nothing. His own college coach said he would be "non-functional" until he understood every aspect of a system.
Meanwhile Brett Favre scored 50% less on the Wonderlic than Alex Smith but had the traits for being able to adjust and improvise in ways that the latter never has been able to.
Bottomline, it takes a combination of things to make a great NFL quarterback and simply isolating one factor isn't going to tell the whole story. Oh yeah, did you hear, Drew Brees is too short to be an NFL starting quarterback.Russell Wilson, the first QB in NFL history to throw a game-winning interception.
