Help me start a basic home gym

How much will a squat rack (preferably with pullup bar attached), bench, barbell, and an appropriate amount of weights cost me?

Not sure how many weights/microweights I should get (DL 335x3) (BP 205) (MP 135) (Squat 225x8) (Row 200x5)

I guess I should get weights to 450 or so, but any idea how many 45s, 35s, 25s, 10s, 5s, and 2,5s I should get?

Will give tiny reps for helpful answers.

The cost can vary greatly if you are searching on Craigslist for used material. If you're lucky enough to have a relative or friend who no longer works out but has old stuff, or if you're lucky enough to find a closing gym (or a gym which is refreshing its stuff), again you might find some awesome deals.

As for plates, get a minimum of six matching 45 pound plates. Get eight if you can afford it. Then get two or four 25 pound plates, four ten pound plates, four 5 pound plates, and two 2.5 pound plates. For me personally, I've found having six 10 pound plates has been highly useful when it comes to barbell curls and incrementing weight for specific workouts.

First, read the pinned threads at the top of the page. Seriously. Do your own work before asking others to do it for you. Second, you probably don't need micro weights. And instead of asking how many of each plate, think about two full sets of plates or 510 pounds, with a good bar.
You need a rack, bench and 300-lb. Oly set. Now, what was your question?

I absolutely second what AttyGuy is saying, two sets will be more than enough even if you choose to get DB handles. As far as the cost ? It'll be what the market can bear and how savvy of a shopper you are.
