15% off Wheyology and Isology and 10% off all other products. Just about ordered 6lbs of whey the other day and the price was $39.99 or $39.95. Really not a sale when you raise the price $3 to $42.95.
Not that a sale is necessary at all, but come on....

I agree with you. At the same time though, this isn't anything new. They've always done this, along with the whole passing on shipping costs thing. But for what its worth they do seem to listen to complaints i.e. theres flat rate shipping now at 7.95.
^^^This, theres a couple of well liked/respected companies who have also put out sales that really aren't savings if you know how to shop.

manofmany, the price increase was due to price increases in raw materials. I just had a truck come in last week of whey, and prices have skyrocketed. The marginal increase in customer pricing is actually much less than the increase in raw materials to me. My WPI prices have increased 35% over the least 3 months.
Chinese demand is flying through the roof, and Coco-Cola is introducing a competitor to the "gatorade g2" protein series in January. Right now Coca Cola distributes Muscle Milk to all the colleges, and my understanding is they're dropping MM in favor of their own brand for better profits.
sorry man, but in a year or two prices may stablize, who knows.Body Nutrition - The Best Protein in the World!

You're right. Here's more detail tho: PepsiCo and CocaCola compete to bid on the huge college contracts so that the universities only distribute either Coke or Pepsi drinks. Most if not all the contracts the colleges have provisions in their Coke contract allow them to purchase Muscle Milk thru Pepsi for their athletic departments. Coke doesn't like this, so they're coming out with a competing product.

Check out my review on the e-mail, the one that i sent to greg in an email and also had a nice review/thread with tons of pictures and feedback, but yet greg did not take the time to respond back to my email or reply back in my review?
Yet it appears on the email...
Still wondering how that works?
Greg lets also add that:
Beta alanine has double
Citrulline Malata has doubled
and the list can go on and on. Consumer do not realize how hard it is to keep these prices what they are due to the demand in raw material prices and how fast they are going up. Don't be surprised as a consumer to continue to see the prices rise.
Those who keep their prices low, you will really wonder how much WPI or WPC they are actually using in their product or what other low grade BCAA's they are trying to spike their protein's with to break even or even make revenue on their products.

As a consumer I don't care about any of that. You listed the 6lb whey price at $39.95 up until the 10% sale. When the promo code became valid you raised the price $3.
Like I said, these sales aren't necessary. But to me, it looks bad to offer a sale and raise the price to offset the savings. Not really a convenient time to raise prices. It's not like you didn't know the cost before the truck rolled in.

Would you rather them raise the price on the item before they have the inventory in stock that would sell at that price? That'd be a bad decision. And I'm pretty sure general accounting principles dictate you account for the expense when you actually get the inventory. I could be wrong. And keeping the price the same for the NEW inventory would be even worse, considering the higher cost of having the inventory. You'd be making even less money on an item that already has a slim profit margin. Let alone for your major product. You have to make sure you're making enough to generate a profit for the business, not just break even on cost of product, costs of buildings, paying employees, etc.

The accounting principles wouldn't have anything to do with the pricing structure.
I think you're referring to accrual method, when the inventory is "used" then you can expense. In the meantime, it would be an asset.
But if he's operating as a cash based then the expense is when he paid for the inventory.
IDK regardless, the accounting shouldn't have to do with this pricing
