Gratz on the OHP pr, amazing to throw 200+ for reps. Insane shoulder power.
Loving this talk to on the westside principles etc, youll notice D.E box squats w/bands transfer a lot to speed off the ground with deadlifts.

Damn man, crazy strong pressing. Interested to see how the DE work helps. Sorry if I missed this, but can you give me the cliffs on what your routine is now?

Glad to hear it worked so well for you. Nah I don't time it. I usually lift with my cuz so we go back and forth fast on these.
Well hopefully box squats will do me well. I like the way they feel. I'm gonna try and get a tire over here. This backyard I have my equipment in has so much potential. I already plan on doing farmers walks soon with my hex bar.
Thanks Chris. And that sounds good to me. Off the ground is my weak point. Brb getting my bands.
lol thanks Mike.
Thanks bro. Here is a bit... Every other day lifting. Hit one big compound exercise hard that day and keep most of the rest easier so I don't burn out. I hit a select few accessories that work best for me.
I aim for about that range for 3 sets and add weight each session or every other session. Kind of like squats on SS. Its helped them grow.Journal: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=139898123&page=240

crazy military pressing colin!! I think in a few weeks you can even get 240. Box squats don't have much carryover to free squats cuz box squats use more hip and posterior chain than quads, that's also why they help the deadlift. Plus the people in westside do suited squats which are wide stance and use a lot of hip and box squats are normally wide stance and use a lot of hip. I guess they would help wide stance squatters more than people who squat with a narrow stance. Like Stan Efferding and his illegally wide stance squats. He box squats and it helps him due to his stance. His stance is similar to a suited lifters. You would benefit more from speed light squats without the box with chains or bands (without chains or bands are fine too but chains and bands help more). Box jumps and jump squats would also help the squat because the power movements of actual squatting would help with squat speed. But yeah do whatever you feel helps you best and I'd like to see how you can keep progressing.

Thanks bro. It feels good to be able to press that much over my head.
Thanks Tobi, awesome info. I was actually thinking about jump squats last night too. They seem like a great one as long as they don't hurt the knees. And damn I really need to go pick up my bands and chains.Journal: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=139898123&page=240

Like Blizz says, "I'm a strength athlete."
I don't really stick to one style of lifting, but rather do it all. My goal is to get strong, build up lagging muscle groups, stay balanced, stay lean, stay aesthetic and still be able to do cardio, maintain my agility, get faster, etc. etc.
I want to compete in PLing when I get stronger. And I'm also looking to enter some strong man competitions later on.Journal: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=139898123&page=240

I like that. I'm going to try to move in this direction a little myself. Right now I'm very strong, and somewhat athletic. But I play enough pick-up games of random sports to really want to be more athletic. I want to be faster, be able run longer, and be able to jump higher. I'm going to devote some time this winter training for that I think.

I'm the same way too. I originally trained for powerlifting, but I also care about bodybuilding due to getting large and aesthetics. I know I won't really go too far in powerlifting cuz my deadlift really is the only lift that stands out and my squat is average to me and my bench isn't that good. I'm better at higher rep squats than maxing out. I tell people who ask that I do both powerlifting and bodybuilding even though I haven't competed yet but I do want to in the future. I care about numbers like training for that 700 pound deadlift and getting that 405x15 squat and eventually 500 for reps on squat and I feel like training like that will also enhance my physique. My legs got bigger and more cut just by squatting heavier weight for more reps. Things like that. Btw I responded to your post in my log. Do you mind uploading a video of you shrugging cuz you shrug heavy and I think you have good form when you shrug and I want to try barbell shrugging now. I don't know how to do it well and I think you can help. Appreciate it.

Good to have training buddies (we all made PR's today). And I have all this room in the backyard to work with. We're trying to get a tire back here too. Farmers walks are ****ing fun with all this room. Oh yeah, I got to watch the 9ers game during the session too, HD big screen through the sliding door, fuckyeah.Last edited by dopamine72; 10-18-2012 at 07:44 PM.
