I usually work out in the evenings after work, I drink a whey protein shake after I get done lifting which is usually around 8-9. Can my body handle it if I drink a casein protein shake when i go to bed as well which anywhere from 10:30-12 p.m. Also how much protein can your body absorb through shakes in a day?

if you're bulking there wouldn't really be any large benefits of taking casein because i read an article by layne norton where he mentioned due to the fact casein releases amino acids over such a long period of time it is in fact more anti-catabolic than actually anabolic unlike whey which is anabolic in its nature due to the short sharp release of amino's

Yes, you can take both and yes, you should continue to take your supplements on your off days including creatine. You can just replace the protein drinks with food, but try to drink whey protein after all your workouts. And casein isn't so much as necessary, but it helps in your protein requirements. Take it at night time before bed, or in between meals to reach your requirements.

The amount of incorrect information contributing to this section of the forum on a daily basis is remarkable.
F*** casein. F*** slow releasing, fast releasing... It's just protein. It doesn't matter when you take it or the 'speed' of it. All that matters is you get 1g of it per pound of bodyweight.
170 lbs guy = 170g of protein by the end of the day.
