Military brahs, would I get UCMJ for turning my uniform flag upside down for a pic?
I want it in a pic but not if it's going to have negative repercussions. Obviously it makes a statement but I don't want that to be at my expense. Trying to stay squared away.

When you enlist you agree to uphold the ideals of the Army and maintain your uniform to a set standard which reflects on the military you serve.
Flipping the flag upside down...... You don't even want to know.

Depends on who he's serving with, life won't be easy though, not to mention, career suicide.

And that's why I would never join the military unless there was a clear and present danger to the US. No negz, just like my freedom to do whatever and quit whatever job I currently have without getting in a ton of trouble and being forever scarred. (Not that I quit jobs like that, never have, just like to have the opportunity to so I don't feel trapped)

Part of service is about sacrifice. All I can say is that I never once felt trapped or that my base freedoms were EVER infringed upon beyond when I get up and where I serve. Like I said though, sacrifice is part of service.
If you get in and find you can't cope, there are ways out. It isn't prison.

Free speech, yes. Friends of mine were just put in jail and their first amendment right was violated. I want to make a statement but I have people that depend on this paycheck I get. I know standards for wear of uniform (as much as an e-3 would) but I didn't know if it was punishable. I didn't mean to disrespect the uniform or the generations who have worn it and died in it before myself. It's just bullsht I volunteered to defend the constitution, am deployed in a war zone and am held to such a strict standard for my actions over here all the while people back home can't exercise their rights.

You have the freedom of speech to an extent. You just cant talk about the military and the government because you took the oath to serve with your life.
At the end of the day, it really just depends what kind of supervisors you have and what they sit fit for punishment.
Do it

Yes. there is free speech in this country. Many people do not seem to understand the limitations of that right, though. That right only exists for you up to the point that it does not infringe on the rights of others. Still, when you join the military, you do have to forego some of your own rights. Turning the flag upside down on your uniform for a soldier is basically like burning a real flag. Because your friends were idiots and got themselves arrested for acting like *******s? Come on man. Use your head.

Haha y'all are funny. I'll definitely not do it now. They're handing out Article 15s like candy here and any UCMJ will bar me from going enlisted to officer. Thanks for the opinions and thanks to those intelligent enough to be civil about things. I was, no?
