    Knee pain from deadlifts...

I have struggled with a bad right knee since my military days of running way too far with crappy shoes. Took me a while to learn my limits and know how much I can get away with. Issue is recently I started to get more serious about DL and the knee pain has returned. Would wrapping the knees help?

I've had some knee swelling of late. I don't DL though. Wraps at night have been a big help. Took about a week to get used to that. Wife had to sleep downstairs for all my tossing and turning. So, there are benefits.

    Good luck bro!

My experience is that I got over it by tightening up my knee (thigh muscles mostly) when doing the workouts around the knee. The pain went away after about 3 months and had never come back.

I have knee problems. I suggest extended war up before squats and dead lists. It makes a big difference. May an effort to work on flexibility as a separate goal. In my routine, I spend time each week working on flexibility. I found my squats have become less painful with less soreness the next day. I'd also recommend one of the commercial supports sold for runner's knee. The most likely source of pain is the patella. I use this one: http://shopping.yahoo.com/715159596-...zwSfNfCTgUB8Yu

Works like magic. No joking. Simply stabilizing the kneecap does wonders for most knee soreness. Strap up when exercising and ice the knee after your workout.

It might. It also might cause furthur damage since the joint would be tightly bound and unable to move in normal fashion.

Have you talked to your doc about this issue? If so, what is his/her advice?

<===== Try these. Tommy Kono knee sleeves. They keep the knee warm and offer minimal support. They are sold right here on BB.com.

I had prior knee pain, but not any more. I thank squats for building up muscle to support my knees better. I do wrap my knees when squating heavy, but never wrap for deads.

I would find out from a Dr though....better to be safe than broken.

Shoot video of yourself lifting and check for where your knees are going during the move.

It depends on the kind of injury ... find out what the problem is first, patellar tendonitis (due to bad tracking) is common in that case yes wrapping but not too tight can help
but there can be other issues in which case the wrapping isn't beneficial
who says love has to be soft and gentle ?
