Sorry don't mean to sound like a noob, I just lift weights sleep and eat lol.
I have been reading about pull ups (sorry meant chin ups I think lol, you know, the bicep stuff pmsl)vs curls for big biceps. I just did a workout and did both, is that ok? or too much?
Also a guy in jail had huge, like 50" arms lol and he showed me the chin up machine and showed me a chin up where there were two bars coming out towards you and so when you hang on them your palms are facing inwards and facing each other kinda thing. He said this exercise worked the whole bicep. He did have big guns to be fair.
I'm so confused, I just want bigger guns pmsl.
Thanks in advance.

Dear..... fcking.......lord.
Pull ups are never argued for biceps. Chin ups are.
You might have done too much, you might not have. How are we to know? You could've done 82 sets total, you might have done 2 sets total.
50" arms? Really? Uh huh....
he showed you neutral grip chin ups. That doesn't work the whole biceps. In reference to the arms, it is similar to a hammer curl. It is still primarily a back exercise.
Pissing yourself laughing? Sure you are.
+ I doubt you'll achieve your goal. Doing just biceps work? Yep... that has to be a worse plan than bench and curls.-

CHAZZY I don't just do arms on their own, I'm not that useless. I do biceps and my jaw muscle PMSL. I do arms in whole, biceps, triceps, forearms and bit of abs. Look I aint trying to be a bodybuilder, just trying to do the right exercises for the right muscles. Yeah he had 50" arms as big as your sesame street head LOL.
Thanks TFLEE42, I'll take that into consideration, can you enlighten me on what spyder curls are?
I MEANT CHIN UPS, JUST WAS RUSHING AND PUT PULL UPS.

Supine-grip pull-ups? It's cool to call them sup-ups
Combining a compound and an isolation movement is fine. I'd imagine you'd want to do your pull ups first so that you can hit your other muscles (back, grip) as much as possible. This pre-fatigue of your elbow flexors would also allow you to do a lighter curl weight (or more like, force you to).
These are usually called neutral grip pull-ups, perhaps some people call them hammer-grip too? I think it's cool to call them new-ups, cause ham-ups makes me think of a glute-ham raise.
I'm not sure what this means, but if it's mean to imply that other kinds of pull ups ignore parts of the bicep, I don't agree.
That's irrelevant. The movement can build big biceps, I don't see what it has to do with "this hits all, others only hit part" theories.
While it's true that sup-ups get more press for biceps, the biceps (and moreso the other flexors, brachi + (a/oradia) + lis) would still get some work during the neutral or prone grip versions, just the bicep flexors themselves are weaker due to the forearm rotation.
Which part of the biceps would not be active during neu-ups? Biceps involvement during pulling movements is odd since it lengthens via shoulder extension while shortening via elbow flexion, but always figured all parts were usually active as dynamic stabilizers at least.
I was wondering what short-forms we could have for the various grips on pullsdowns. Perhaps sup-downs and pro-downs?

50" arms was a joke, you know haha, that kinda thing. Just saying he had the biggest arms I ever seen, well.......... apart from that crazy guy on youtube who was sticking steroids straight into his biceps an shizzle. He looked daft though.
Anyyyyyway I did chin ups first then some direct biceps work which seemed to do the job. Infact it felt better than any other bicep workouts I've tried before. I like it...... I like it a lot. LOL.

OP, of course compound exercises should be the "bread & butter" of your workout however don't make the mistake of turning pull-ups into a bicep isolation exercise. Definitely keep your chins/pulls in your routine however if your looking for bigger biceps your best bet is to incorporate bicep isolation exercises in addition to your compound lifts.
