I just picked up an 8' St Croix Premier rod for next muskie season.
And the wife just got me one of these for my birthday. http://www.thornebros.com/shop/pc/vi...idcategory=407Bravery and stupidity are often synonymous. So are cowardice and intelligence.

I actually went to buy a box yesterday, but at $1/shell I had to pass. They had Federal steel shot at $12/box so grabbed that instead. Now it looks like instead of heading East for ducks I may end up going West for deer on account of rain. I think shooting those steel dice at the ducks would be really useful for Middle with his 20 gauge, though he should be moving up to a 12 in a year or two.

Hungarian Mosin Nagant M44. Bought it last night for $100. I've wanted a Mosin for a while and fondled several, but this one had the best bore/crown I've seen on one. Cant wait to shoot it.
I got married 2 months ago, btw. Never wanted to hear sht about it on the regular misc. Dated for 6 years and couldnt live without her. Had a bunch of wimminez before her, but she just happened to be the one.
Probably going to give the M44 to her dad for xmas, btw. Just too good of a price to pass up for the condition.

nothing special but I wanted a side by side that was on the cheaper end just as a general small game hunter and some occasional clay pigeon shooting.

This thread makes me sad. I had planned on picking up a .45 project gun, a Marlin .30-30, an AR project, a surplus AK, a Mosin, a Tokarov, and if I could squeeze it in, a SxS this year. This was going to be my splurge year.
Fck my liberal District Attorney, fck the double standards of the local statutes, and most of all, fck the low-life, non-contributing, high school dropout thugs who tried to make me a Denver Post headline.Near, far, wherever you are...

Did you miss that original thread? Cliffs are as follows:
-Went to see a movie
-Gangbanger high school kids try to puff their chests out
-My buddy (6'8" 280) goes full retard trying to beat up two minors
-I calm him down, and as we drive off, tell the two kids to leave people alone
-One pulls out a pea shooter and fires once
-I stop the Jeep, draw down and fire back
-The round zooms over his head and he disappears into the parking lot
-I call the police and they acknowledge it was self defense
-The next day I get a call and am informed that the DA has decided to charge me with discharging a firearm in public
-She refuses to drop the charges; I get a deferred judgement that will expunge the ordeal, but can't buy another firearm or be in possession (heh) of one until 09/25/12Near, far, wherever you are...

Absolutely insane.. I'll try to dig up the original thread. Was it because you stopped the jeep and got our rather than continue driving? What was the engagement distance? Did you contact the NRA/GOA or any local groups to help you fight the case? Did they catch the dirtbags? I just dont see how they could acknowledge your actions as self defense and the prosecute for public discharge (deferred judgement or not). Glad you are alright brah... sounds like you handled yourself well.

No, a deferred judgement is basically a suspended sentence. After the year is up, they dismiss the charges. It's contingent on your not being charged with any other crimes in the time period. They usually reserve it for juveniles to keep 'em from getting in trouble any more, but I had a good attorney; that bitch of a DA didn't want to do anything for me.
Her reasoning was that I was "volleying gunfire across a public parking lot; endangering the populace in the process". Mind you, it was 10:30 PM on a weeknight in a nearly empty parking lot in Arvada, CO. Of course, she argued that the round also could've hit someone's property and damaged it.
After he fired the shot, he took off like a bat out of hell. By the time I was set to shoot, he was already 40 yards or so away.
I should've hooked up with RMGO or some other local clubs I know of, but didn't. Probably would've been a good idea in hindsight.
Those shtbirds were never caught. Hopefully some people of their ilk will see to it that they meet an appropriate fate.
The cops were definitely sympathetic, funny how the people who actually carry a weapon can appreciate the gravity of the situation.Near, far, wherever you are...

There's your problem.
Put your foot down and keep going. Stopping, thus keeping yourself within range longer and making yourself a stationary target vs a moving target...bad idea. Shooting when you had a really really good no-shoot option...bad idea.
Of course I missed the full thread you referenced so there are a lot of details to take into consideration which I do not know at this time.
