Good luck with the MRI my mind is blown how fast you got it. Here unless if was emergency or serious 3-4 month wait unless you do it privately then $750 and 3-4 days.

Locally we are 7-10 days out on an MRI.

If I had been willing to run it through my insurance I would have insisted on getting an MRI as soon as we got back from Mexico. Working with the state plan i went the cortisone first.

    3/27- MRI today.

Doc's office called and said "Preliminary review shows a torn ACL and medial collateral meniscus tear and we're sending you to the best knee Doc in town."

At least we know what's wrong!

Headed to CF to get some work in before chores today. Supposed to be in the 50's, so taking down some old chain link fence and prepping posts for removal.

Glad your getting some answers! Sorry to hear about the tears but Nolan's knee has been amazing after his surgery and never an issue with it.

I'm ready to Be back to normal! Relative term.

    3/28 CF

    Warm-
foam roller, situps, pushups, jump rope...not so good, ankle and hip mobility

    Wall ball- emom
    4x15 reps

    Knee did not mind these

    WOD- 12 min amrap
    7 pull ups
    15 box jumps
    9 pikes

Tried my first box jump in months. Just to a 20 inch box...that was an adrenaline rush of pain. I did not expect that I could not jump. If I had done this 8 weeks ago I bet I would have gotten the MRI the next week.

So pull ups and pike situps.

Home and ice this son of a gun

PA showed me the MRI today. Shows a torn meniscus in the medial collateral area and the ACL views show some abnormality that may be a tear. The manual inspection of the knee today shows L knee is 2 cm slack and R is 3 cm. Will meet with Doc next week and have him determine if the ACL needs surg.

What I don't understand is I know people with jacked up meniscus that have very little pain/problems. Mine has not settled down in over 8 weeks. Feel like I woke up and went soft...no puns intended.

Apparently I am not normal as I am dumb enough to jump on a box (only once) when I am about to be scheduled for knee surgery. My mind says the ACL is for cutting, stopping, turning directions, so it should be no big deal to jump up, no real thought that the meniscus may really be a mess. Result was an adrenaline rush of pain. Then, 5 minutes later being supersmart, I was not sure if the pain was caused by the jump or the landing, so I go over and jump up to the pullup bar...yep, it's the jumping!!!

I asked what the popping sound was the other week when I stepped into the pickup with the R leg and the PA said it was likely the meniscus moving around. So, even though I don't want to get cut, it may be the best option. Will know more on the 8th.

Thanks KI. I hope that the knee Doc can see a different way to make this heal up, but I am just as bad today as I was 8 weeks ago. PT accomplished very little and cortisone only lasted a week.

I am sick of not knowing what I am going to get every step I take. I do my best to push the ignore button.

Honestly chat with Nolan about it. he had his meniscus, ACL and MCL all done in one go. Surgery in September on the ice in Jan to play hockey. He had a great recovery and has never had problems since and now that I have so many knee issues I only wish they would open me up to see what is going on.

One jump...well, two. I gave it a min of rest and then tried to jump up to a pull up bar. Then I was convinced I was dumb.

In my defense it had been almost 8 weeks since I had done anything dynamic. 2 freaking months of riding the bike, walking, light leg extensions and barely squatting or dead lifting. I was a good boy!

The frustrating part is I know people with jacked up meniscus and they do not seem to be limping around like a b!tch (non-gender specific here). Who knows, maybe they were all gimpy the first few months after it happened.

Saturday was the box jump fiasco and today is the first day I can walk without constant feedback. I'll take it!

Degree of tear and loading forces (body weight) will have an impact too, maybe that had barely-there tears? You never know.

I assume you're not doing too much with the yard as you're headed to OK this summer. Bucket of flowers on the porch should do it

Gen put out about 20 pots around our porch areas. We will seed most of them and pick up a few specific varieties. Not much longer before we start prepping the garden.

Same here. We have been getting rid of grass since the first summer we owned the place. Still plenty of it left! Bushes and bark, drip irrigation, tall grasses, 6 raised bed gardens (that is work, but worth it to go grab food, wash it off and eat it) and hearty perennials that don't need babying. We have added 2 brick and 1 concrete patio, a 12x12 fort for the kids, and a pole barn for the adults. And we still have enough grass for a volleyball match alongside the house and good 100x40 section in front of the house.

4/8- Doc. Talked through the whole run up to meeting him. He ran me through the wickets and ruled out the ACL. Then we talked about the rehab of the meniscus with no surgery and he said it would require me to behave for the better part of 6 more months if I expected it to heal and then there is no guarantee it would not slip again.

Versus 2 weeks of taking it very easy, 4 more weeks of build up and be active at 6 weeks (June 1). Sold.

    Surgery next Tuesday.

    Gym-

    15 on the bike
    , int/ext rotations, press downs

HS Iso lateral Bench- set on 2 plates so it is a lockout workout
    1 Platex10
    2 Px10
    2 P+25x5
    3 Px5x5

    DB OHP- Single Arm
    20x10
    25x10
    30x5
    35x5x5

Planks- Not much in the tank as the chest/shoulders were fried

In and out as we needed to get vehicles moved around the family and I needed to pack, buzz my head, shower and whatever else for Guards.
