Why is your name bolded like that of a mod, yet your rep power is only 4297?
Not saying you don't know your sh*t, but if you were the most sought after, would you really need to spam your services throughout the forums?-

I don't know why my name is bolded. I'm not a moderator and I don't even know how the rep power works.
I put a lot of work into answering questions--but usually stay in the one section. I'm making the forum members in other sections aware of what's there.
People can take a look or not. That's their choice.Read my personal story "I Kept This A Secret From You My Entire Natural Bodybuilding Career" ===> www.skiplacour.com/is-this-all-there-is

I'm aware of your section, Skip. I've had it bookmarked and I do plan on coming over there some day. I'm pretty sure I've already annoyed John Hansen by asking him a bunch of non-expert level questions. I don't want to have the entire elite of the natural bodybuilding community rolling their eyes at me... so I'm waiting until my knowledge is a little more sophisticated before I come over and start bugging you.
I have noticed that you put a lot of effort into it (your responses, etc.), and that's pretty cool, man.

I'm a little worried that your thread will now be flooded with 16 year-old noobs complaining about the lack of pump in their biceps and pecs and asking you to critique their 6 day splits that are completely devoid of compound exercises.
The more that you read, the more things you'll know.
The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.

The age old Question that encounters 2 varied opinions, in your thoughts sir what is a more efficient exercise out of chin ups or barbell curls for the purpose of bicep development?

Most efficient for what exactly? Muscle stimulation for growth? Strength and power in the gym? Performance sports?
You can never go wrong using a full range of motion.
If the person doing the exercise is skilled and experienced enough, a full range of motion is always necessary to stimulate muscle growth.
Most people with only a few years of training experience can't really fully grasp this concept so it's always "safe" to recommend using a full range of motion.Read my personal story "I Kept This A Secret From You My Entire Natural Bodybuilding Career" ===> www.skiplacour.com/is-this-all-there-is

Not sure if srs. The irony is incredibly strong here.
99% of the people I talk to IRL about fitness have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. I ask for advice here all the time and the response I get from random people on the internet is almost always better than what I would get if I asked someone I knew IRL.My Journal (RIP 05/11 - 09/13):

In real life or on the message boards, my point is the same.
If you ask for a general critique from people who don't all of your specific factors, they don't normally take the time to learn them. What you normally get are a wide variation of opinions based on what's really the person giving the advice's own personal experiences.
All of these varying opinions lead many people to confusion, frustration, and overwhelm.
This is probably the #1 challenge most lifters face when they are trying to learn the bodybuilding and training process.
The are looking for absolute certainty and confidence to move forward by soliciting a universally-agreed upon set of "black and white" concrete answers--but all they get are 10 different opinions.Last edited by skiplacour; 11-21-2011 at 11:54 AM.

@ Skip
I think it would be of great value if you could find the time to state your opinion about some exercise related issues that come up here every day, such as:
Using straps, heal blocks and pu*sy pads in BB;
Targeting certain areas, such as inner chest, lower lats or outer/inner quads in BB;
"Toning"- in a way general population thinks of it;
BB curls and some sort of Tri's extensions right from the start of lifting career or no;
Importance(or not) of feeling and mind muscle connection in BB;
Machines in general, but esp. leg extension, leg press, pec flies, pulldowns...
Short opinions such as yay or nay would be nice. Expanding a bit on all of the the above mentioned would be even better.bb.com, a place that turned Deadlift into a forearm isolation exercise
and a place where 99% of 21 year olds have bad back and knees.

I believe straps are an absolute must if you are trying to build the most muscle in the shortest period of time. You need to use all of your strength on the targeted muscle group--not on your grip.
Heal blocks and pussy pads--not a big fan but if you think they help a person train heavier with more intensity...well...the mind is a very powerful thing.
You can't re-shape your muscles with specific exercises--only maximize the genetic potential of the shape you have. If there were certain exercises that could change the shape of the muscles, ALL of these hard working bodybuilders with 20 years of experience would have flawless physiques because they would have discovered the "magic" exercises and exploited them.
Using weight training to make you lose body fat is not an efficient way to use your time in the gym. That time is meant to stimulate the muscle building process. Your diet is what helps you get lean and "tone."
I have no problem with a beginner using these exercises. From what I've recently learned, this is quite the hot topic here?
The "Mind-muscle connection" is extremely important when doing an exercise--and it come with focus and time. The difference would be analogous to a casual weekend golfer just hitting a golf ball--and a top-ranked professional hitting the ball on the bottom/inner half; lifting it up and out with a fade; and using an inside-out half swing with a cutting motion. I hope that analogy makes sense.
It's all about overloading the targeted muscle group with weight. I would suggest people do it with barbell, dumbbells, and cables rather than machines. But, as long as it gets the job done do what's most effective for you.
I need to make some videos about some of these topics.Read my personal story "I Kept This A Secret From You My Entire Natural Bodybuilding Career" ===> www.skiplacour.com/is-this-all-there-is
