Anyone here ever bulk on a low-carb diet? I don't mean like, like keto or anything(minimum 5 fruits a day, 250-280g carbs)...
I'm just asking because carbs are getting expensive and I might need the money for protein...

How are carbs expensive? Those are the cheapest things to eat. Rice, pasta, bread, potatoes, etc... These are dirt cheap, lol.
But back to the question... yes, I've bulked on low carbs (sub 200) and thoroughly enjoy it.
My body doesn't much like carbs. They make me feel bloated, tired, full, etc... So I much prefer to be on a lower-moderate carb diet. When bulking I highly prefer a diet of high fat, high protein, lower carb. For instance, 130g fat, 225g protein, 180g carbs. This puts me about 300 over maintenance which is fine for a slow, lean bulk.
Then every 4 days or so I'll up the carbs to 300+.

Carbs are expensive? Do you live in Australia and get all your carbs exclusely from bananas or something?
Things like oats can easily be obtained for less than 3 dollars per kilogram (with most brands providing ~120 calories per 30 grams serving), same can be said for pasta, rice etc...hi (╯°□°)╯┻━┻

Actually, LCD and VLCD/VCKD protocols often use absolute thresholds as they seek to trigger certain physiological changes, including but not limited to reducing baseline glucose utilization in the brain from ~130 grams/d to ~40 grams/d. The metabolic cost of brain function is not particularly variable based on the height and/or weight on an individual.

What does that have to with low carb? Low carb is subjective, and typically a measurement in proportion to total calories. If you're discussing physiological changes that really more in accord with ketosis.
For someone who often complains about people using terminology that is subjectively defined (clean, healthy, dirty, etc...) you're using it here.
