Lol at everyone thinking the release date is flawed. Blizzard did the same thing and the industry has learned from it. Guess which game ignored Blizzard's release schedule idea, SWTOR. You release during a time when people are too busy to go balls deep in a MMO at release because those are the true population numbers. SWTOR on the other hand released during winter vacation and their servers got bombarded at release. They put out a ton of new servers thinking they hit the jackpot but in reality it was just people being hardcore. Once school started up again, guess what, server population took a nose dive and the problems started to pile up. The greatest complaint for many is the lack of server population.

So what, youre trying to say winter release is better?

Play on a private server MMO with high exp rates so you reach the end game content quicker. Should last you a couple months while waiting for GW2. Aion or WoW. Even if you say no WoW there are the vanilla servers to bring back the open world pvp.

Unfortunately, there's nothing really to play. What I'm doing is just playing some Guild Wars, working on my HoM to get bad ass gears/weapons/titles for my GW2 character when it releases.

I played DN a bit also haha but the pvp was fun, if im recalling the right game. didn't end up spending cash on it, though. regarding the HoM stuff from guild wars, do you need a max level character for it? I'd like to try it and kill some time, but Im worried that by the time I get a character ready for it, GW2 will be released and I'll never touch GW1 again (30 bucks down the drain). tell me this isn't true!

I never said it was good, what I was trying to get at is a sense of community is the greatest aspect of MMO's. SWTOR totally bombed by thinning out its customer base and not doing anything to remedy it until now. People will play crappy games as long as they think it's fun, in MMO's the community is a large part of that.

I dont disagree, my post was mainly in humor thats all. I wasnt trying to disprove your opinion on the matter. Fact be told I never thought about the server issue like you mentioned.

the only private server that was worth a damn was Scriptcraft and the owner went into full emo ******* mode and shut it down. the worst part is that many players offered to take it off his hands and run it themselves, even pay him for it, and he didn't care. just shut it down on less than a weeks notice and then shut the forums down so no current players could find out where everyone went.

I remember a few years ago Warhammer Online was hyped as fuk, but it died almost instantly lol. I read that it is completely free to play now, so I may give that a shot out of sheer boredom.

Chances are I'll just wait for GW2 though.

I heard that they were going to try for at least a BWE once a month. I wouldn't put my hopes up too high for it being the BWE as such.

haha yeah. a lot of people may not remember it, but warhammer online was hyped up similar to GW2. obviously it's not on the same level, but it was supposed to be a huge game. they rushed the release, released a bugged ass game, and lost most of the subscriptions within the first few months. never recovered.

kinda why I'm fine with GW2 pushing the release back. you really gotta nail the release to keep a game going. one of the reason WoW was so successful was because it was so damn polished at release.

The pvp is way more skill based since you don't get gear that gives you a ridiculous advantage over everyone (brb glaive rogue comps smash face into keyboard for glad).

Your gear will reflect your achievements aesthetically but wont give you the upper hand. I'm excited by this because gear always ruined the good players back in the day. Guys like drakedog put out amazing videos and then when they got geared up it just got less interesting because they flattened everyone without effort.

So every match is a challenge, not just the games you play against the other top 1% of players. It's also a lot more fun.

Q: Are you ROFL stomping lvl 10's in WvW?
A: I dont lose 1v1s or 1v2s. Had a really fun 15 minute 2v15 and won yesterday. People cant handle our lvl 50+ gold water weapons
So to anyone thinking that there is no gear-progression in GW2: this is your answer. Most of the people who come into these forums the first time hear how GW2 is all about cosmetics and come to the wrong conclusion, that there is no gear-progression in the game. This is a misconception. There is a lot of different gear with varied attribute-distribution. With better gear you will dominate other players in WvW with ease...

The posters above you are referring to sPvP not WvWvW. And there is definitely enough gear to obtain/endgame for the PvEers, but they kept it out of sPvP to make it more competitive.
