Hi,
I drink a half gallon of chocolate milk post-workout, over the course of 2-3 hours. I drink about a quart immediately after.
Someone made a comment the other day, "You're not worried about diabetes?"
Should I be?

If you're significantly overweight, you should worry about diabetes. If not, you shouldn't.
Your friend is a moron. There is a corollary relationship between sweets and diabetes---fat people tend to eat a lot of sweets, fat people get diabetes. It doesn't mean drinking chocolate milk gives you diabetes.Don't Drink, Don't Smoke, Watdo you do?

http://www.diabetes.org/diabetes-basics/diabetes-myths/
specifically:
Myth: Eating too much sugar causes diabetes.
Fact: No, it does not. Type 1 diabetes is caused by genetics and unknown factors that trigger the onset of the disease; type 2 diabetes is caused by genetics and lifestyle factors. Being overweight does increase your risk for developing type 2 diabetes, and a diet high in calories, whether from sugar or from fat, can contribute to weight gain. If you have a history of diabetes in your family, eating a healthy meal plan and regular exercise are recommended to manage your weight.FKK - Elastic waisted jeans are fashionable too.
