Not knowing exacly much about how height works. I would say probably say it is genetically predetermined. A healthy livestyle would probably optimise the timeframe that it takes for you to reach your predetermined height.

I remember reading about female gymnast that would go into a growth spur after stop doing gymnastics. Which leads me to believe that while they trained, the environment wasn't optimal for growth, but once they stopped, the height caught up to them.

Someone could argue that the additional growth hormone that is released during exercise could aid in helping you grow some additional, insignificant amount. Keep lifting though, don't worry about these things. Height is all genetic.

And if you get your lifts up heavy enough you can start compressing some disks and shrink some! So lift heavy!

I asked this question along time ago . After puberty the growth plates in the bone marrow fuse together thus preventing any more growth .

There are cases of over reactive glands producing more growth hormone increasing in height . Known as gigantism .

I do not know the full depth of the condition only that is a condition relating to over reactive glands .

But if you are generally healthy and no past history of this genetics has all ready predetermined how tall you are going to grow .

And in relation to the woman that gymnast's i read somewhere that they where giving Growth inhibitors to stop them from growing beyond a certain height . Not sure if its true tho .
Ka0s :In my experience, doing heavy barbell squats, bench presses, deadlifts, military presses, rows, etc. builds no significant muscle mass.
What you need to really get big is a solid routine which focuses on light weights and cable movements to really force blood into those muscles and get that deep burn & powerful contraction

WORKING OUT DOESNT STUNT OR ENHANCE GROWTH, you gain height because you started a good diet and slept enough, thats it, and, maybe your standing at a good posture because working out enhances your core

Wow.. you need to just leave.

First off, don't be giving advice if you don't know what you are talking about. Your growth plates, or epiphyseal plates, are in your bone, not in your marrow. The marrow located in the medullary cavity, usually only in long bones (however you have hematopoietic, or blood forming, tissue in other bones such as your hip, where the traditional bone marrow donation comes from).

This isn't too bad of a picture to describe the process.

Your body uses a cartilage "model" basically in place of the compact bone in the beginning because it is much easier to replace than compact bone is. The amount that you grow would also require a lot of energy for your osteoblasts (bone constructors) and osteoclasts (break down bone into simpler products) to be continually replacing and building new compact bone all day every day to grow.

A healthy diet will always prevent degradation, unless a genetic or environmental predisposition (such as a disease) overpowers it. It will not however make you significantly taller, but it will definitely not hinder you in any way.

In a short (no height joke) synapsis... poster above does not know what he is talking about. He has a slightly misguided basic concept of how bones grow, however. OP - at 18 you may not grow much, if any more at all.

I never said i knew why it was caused i said what i was told on this site .

Also over reactive glands can cause you to grow taller but as i said i dont know the full effect or condition of it .

Also i do know how bones grow , but again the condition i stated has alot more factors involed in it than just simply bones growing .

OP, yes you can gain weight when training, the reason beyond this is not the actual training, but proper nutrition intake. The body has your genetics stored and will keep on growing until you reach X height ( X = prescribed in your genetics ) or you damage anything that will cause you to stop growing. To grow you need enough energy and protein/fat/carbs and when you started training, you've created enough of these to let your body reach the genetic goal.

Theres no way of knowing if you will grow anymore but, to answer your question yes exercise definitely plays a pivotal roles in growth. Not just regular exercise, but intense exercise.

    Dear height increase enthusiasts,
It has been over a decade since the first introduction of the BODY REMODELING technique; the only No Surgery, No Pain and No Drug height increase technique.
We are pleased to inform you all that we are launching our newest and most effective full treatment program, which promises to have even higher success rates.
To prove our credibility as well as our confidence in our results and our new program, we are offering payment per gained centimeter, i.e. our clients will only pay according to how many centimeters they are gaining during the process of receiving our treatment program.
In order to receive targeted height increase levels, client dedication to the perfect execution of the technique is a key factor, this is why our new program approach will enforce extreme control measures and conditions that confirm total client compliancy with our programs; otherwise adequate sanctions will be implemented.
On another hand, our custom made machine has been redesigned to provide maximum grip and traction control and subsequently better height increase results!
