I am one of those people who, before spending too much time reading the Nutrition forum, would have a dextrose + protein shake PWO (although I'm currently having choc milk atm).
Now I understand that's completely broscience, so am curious as to what you guys eat or drink PWO? Am thinking of switching to a food rather than a shake, or having just a protein shake afterwards instead of elsewhere in the day.

Nothing wrong with chocolate milk if that's what you like.
OP, if you have a tub of whey sitting around and don't want it to go to waste, you can always add a scoop of whey to either milk or choc milk, which is what I do when rushed/lazy.
Of course, any whole food protein + carb source is always solid advice.

Dextrose + whey post-workout isn't exactly broscience, it does work, but people are misguided with thinking that's what you HAVE to do. As part of some holy ritual.
Me, i just do 2 scoops of whey with water, have some vitamin C, then eat my next meal 1-1.5hrs later when i get home and start cooking.advertising/self-promotion not permitted

I like to have pieces of toast. I smear two tablespoons worth (no more!) of Natural Peanut-butter all over both pieces of toast. I then proceed to apply sugar-free jelly. I then pour 1.5 cups worth of milk, measured out. Maybe then I'll have a piece of fruit such as a banana or an apple. Chew.

You can find it in specialty shops with a bit of work but it is mostly unknown and pretty far outside of the American palate.
Pre workout I prefer nothing for at least 3 hours. Post I generally eat a large meal. Occasionally I'll make a whey / milk shake for satiety and eat later.Clear eyes, full heart: can't lose.
