    625lbs deadlift..

My best ever DL was 600 a month ago. Today was my max effort Strongman events day. Hit some good numbers and felt strong through my 4 events. Afterwards I still felt like I had some juice left in the tank, so I went for a max effort DL and ended up pulling a 25lbs PR post events training!! I am happy as all hell with this. Sorry I dont know how to load the video in the forum so ill just leave the link

good stuff, especially after an event day.

I hit 605(hitched) a few weeks ago and was stoked, but that was just on a deadlift day.

What kind of suit is that and do you like it?

Since I am getting serious with strongman now, I figure at some point I will need to get a deadlift suit and learn how to use it.

Strong pull, but the hitching was a bit drastic imo, and it looked like you didn't quite lock out at the top. Still, impressive strength.

Thank you guys for the compliments, Yes you are right its a pretty intense hitch haha.

The suit is the Metal king pro deadlifter with velcro straps to adjust at the shoulders. It is definitely worth the money, Its baggy in the chest so when your in the hole about to pull it forces your hips through and chest back. It was recommended by a bunch of Strongmen I compete and train with I am very happy with it.

Well I assume the drastic hitching was from fatiguing in my prior events, especially a 640 yoke for a bunch of runs. The lockout is extremely hard with my suit because its so tight between my hamstrings and hips so it pitches me forward to begin with.

I agree, but if you don't hitch a max attempt in a strongman competition, you are leaving numbers on the board. Pull for a good lift, but get it up anyway you have to.

Nice lift and congrats on the PR. I read the thread before watching the video, so I was expecting a lot more hitching, to be honest. Not that it matters though.

I haven't seen as much Strongman as I'd like, so sorry if this is a dumb question; Is a max effort deadlift so frequently an event that it's worth training with a DL suit like that? Do you always do your ME pulls in your suit?

Thank you for the compliment! I appreciate all the kind words.

I just recently got my suit, so after 2 years with just doing belt/strap deadlifts, I had to get a good ME pulling day in with the suit. Im not sure if you compete for NAS or not, But in NY we just had a bunch of shows this past year all with max deadlifting events on oly bars. The event seems to come and go with promoters, but usually 8 out of 10 shows there will be some sort of deadlifting event, whether its an 18inch pick or pick from the floor, and usually its a car or tire DL. MOST of the time your allowed to use suits as well, so I wanted to give it a go and try and get used to my suit before I use it in any show. Good question though

we didn't have any max deadlift events in Colorado this year(my first strongman season) but from looking at the contest entries from pretty much all of the shows in the USA, max deads are definitely on the rise. Either with an axle, a std bar, a std bar on tires, silver dollar deads, etc. They are popping up a bunch. Check out Worlds Strongest Man when it airs on New Years and after, they even had it there with a standard bar from standard height. You might not notice it, but they all are wearing suits(well I heard Zydrunas doesn't wear one, but still) underneath their WSM shirts and shorts.

Zydrunas probably doesnt wear one because they cant make one to fit that gut of his haha. I saw a picture of him standing face-to-face with Brian shaw and Zydrunas' gut definitely looks the biggest its ever been. Still strong as all hell though
