i'm essentially all healed up, done with antibiotics etc but they said they'll probably never know exactly what the infection was or what caused it for sure.

his parent's health insurance plan(if they even have one) will only cover him if he's a student. if he is 18+ and does not go to school any longer, he has to have his own insurance. parent's insurance does not cover if he is not a student.

Insurance will pay for most of it if you are a on a decent plan. Still likely going to cost a few thousand though. All depends on your coverage.
I had a hospital stay where the bill was $54,000, only ended up paying about $5,000 after insurance. And yes, they can put you on a payment plan for that.

Out of curiosity, how much is an 8-day stay as an inpatient in a hospital worth to you? How much do you think it costs for 24 care and access to a physican/nurses+tests/labs and treatment?
Hopefully you aren't a ******* who thought he was invincible and actually have insurance. Most colleges require insurance.You deserve what you settle for.

responding to quotes above about insurance ^^^^. my familys been in a really sh*t streak for the past couple of years, we had to drop our health insurance back in February this year cause it was too much and we were all very healthy and essentially never get sick. what happened to me is still unknown, the cause is unknown, and was the most unlucky thing i have ever experienced in my life. a part from the cost of it, i was in severe pain for an unbelievable amount of time.
yes i am covered by my parents insurance but we only had catastrophic. this only works if it goes over 5 grand. you pay the first 5K and then 25% of any additional cost. i'm not sure if they already did this or not. i did the math though and if insurance hasn't been taken into consideration then the total comes out to be $13,731.75.
if they already took that into consideration then that means the bill was over 100K.
