    Rows: Middle and Lower Traps

I'm trying to do barbell rows to hit my middle and lower traps
    Is it wide grip?
45 degrees from the ground or parallel to the ground?
And do I keep my shoulders retracted throughout the row or only at the top?

The grip wont make too much of a difference since you wont be comfortable grabbing too close or wide anyway. Pendlays will allow you to use more weight. And due to the back being more horizontal, it targets more of the upper back. I don't think it matters do what's comfortable.
