help a brother - tight shoulder pains

Long story short I've got a dull ache in my right shoulder.

It's a tightness that seems to always occur with any training, but as I discovered today; pulldowns or chins are the main pain creators.

It's not a sharp pain, more of a dull ache and tightness that spreads across my entire delt - especially my front and rear heads. I've noticed it on chest press etc but more of a strain when doing pulldowns (almost none on over head presses!)

A physio reckons it could be a bicep impingement but any other suggestions? I've got a tight nerve that's running down my arm into my little finger that I've been working on stretching so I don't know if that's playing a part or not

Sorry for the vagueness! It's the best description I can give

    Thanks in advance!

If it's a dull ache it's probably not a pinched nerve. Pinched nerves feel more like a sharp, tingling pain. I think you have a build up of myofacial trigger points that can mimic different types of pain but its mostly like a dull ache like you're describing. I speak from experience because I had similar issues with my shoulder.. my advice go get a real good, deep tissue massage on your delt from a licensed massage therapist- it will probably require more than one visit. Myofacial trigger points, otherwise known as muscle knots account for over 75 percent of training injuries. That's my best guess as to what you have and need to fix.
